An adjustment and suspension system for supporting the mainshaft of a gyratory crusher within a stationary spider hub. The system includes a piston movable within the spider hub to adjust the vertical position of the mainshaft. A stop member positioned within the spider hub controls the maximum vertical movement of the piston within the spider hub. A drive assembly is used to adjust the vertical position of the stop member to limit the vertical position of the mainshaft. The mainshaft is supported by a vertical support bearing and a radial support bearing that are located separate from each other. The vertical position of the drive shaft is controlled by a supply of pressurized hydraulic fluid introduced into the spider hub to control the vertical position of the movable piston.

The head nut assembly for gyratory crusher which includes a shaft having a lower portion, a tapered middle portion and a threaded upper portion. The threaded upper portion extends above the tapered portion. A mantle encompasses the middle tapered portion and has a correspondingly tapered internal side. The internal side is in generally continuous supportive engagement with the shaft middle portion. The mantle additionally has an upper side. A head nut is threadably secured to the upper portion of the shaft. The head nut has a lower face, where at least one bore extends upwardly into the lower face. An annular ring is disposed around the shaft between the mantle and the head nut. The ring has a lower surface coupled with the upper side of the mantle so as to prevent relative rotational movement between the mantle and the ring. An upper surface on the ring is contiguous with the lower face of the head nut. At least one key is disposed between the head nut and the annular ring. The key is completely captured inside the head nut bore and acts to couple the ring to the head nut and prevent relative rotational movement between the ring and the head nut.

The bearing assembly for supporting and guiding a moving member includes a first bearing member and a second bearing member. The second bearing member and the first bearing member have movement relative to one another. The second bearing member includes a wearing surface in contact with the first bearing member. The wearing surface wears in response to the relative movement between the first and second bearing members. The second bearing member also includes a chamber and a wear identifier. The chamber is located behind the wearing surface. The wear identifier is within the chamber. Upon sufficient wear of the wearing surface, the wear identifier is released from the chamber onto the wearing surface.
