Enclosure for a needle disposal container

A disposal container including a lid having an access aperture, and a closure which is shaped to overlay and seal the access aperture. The closure is slidable in an operative position at a first elevation from a temporarily closed orientation over the access aperture to an opened orientation where at least a portion of the aperture is exposed. The closure can be locked in place over the access aperture by rotating the closure to align tabs on the closure with recesses in the lid, and then pushing the closure downwardly to a second elevation to lock it in place.

A waste container having a top with a slidable closure. The top has an access aperture and the closure is positioned to slide between opened and closed positions. The closure can be temporarily retained in a first closed position over the aperture, and can be permanently retained in a second closed position over the aperture. Means is also provided for retaining the closure at partially closed orientations across the aperture.

A secure container system comprising a first container with a second container mounted thereon, the containers having adjacent sides that are complementary to one another. The first container includes two pairs of spaced channels and the second container includes opposite flanges which engage the channels for mounting the second container on the first. The first container has a door which, when closed, includes an extended portion comprising a stop for selectively preventing lateral movement of the second container relative to the first container when the second container is mounted in only one of the two pairs of spaced channels. The door also includes a pair of detents for temporarily holding the second container relative to the first container when the second container is mounted in a second of the two pairs of spaced channels.

A secure container system comprising a first container with a second container mounted thereon, the container having adjacent sides that are complementary to one another. The first container includes a pair of spaced channels and the second channel includes opposite flanges which engage the channels for mounting the second container on the first. The first container has a door which, when closed, includes an extended portion comprising a stop for selectively preventing lateral movement of the second container relative to the first. When the door is opened, the second container may be laterally removed from its mounting on the first container.

A disposal container particularly adapted for hospital use and comprising a hollow container body having a slot at the top to permit access to the interior of the container body and having a barrier disposed adjacent the slot for restricting access to the interior of the container body. The barrier comprises a first cowl extending over the slot and a complementary second cowl extending beneath the slot, and a raised shelf at one side of the slot opposite the location of the first cowl. A pivotal closure is provided for sealing of the container when filled.
