Disclosed is a sculpted probe pad and a gray scale etching process for making arrays of such probe pads on a thin flexible interposer for testing the electrical integrity of microelectronic devices at terminal metallurgy. Also used in the etching process is a novel fixture for holding the substrate and a novel mask for 1-step photolithographic exposure. The result of the invention is an array of test probes of preselected uniform topography, which make ohmic contact at all points to be tested simultaneously and nondestructively.

Gray scale etching for thin flexible interposer

Silicon and germanium containing materials are used at surface of conductors in electronic devices. Solder can be fluxlessly bonded and wires can be wire bonded to these surfaces. These material are used as a surface coating for lead frames for packaging integrated circuit chips. These materials can be decal transferred onto conductor surfaces or electrolessly or electrolytically disposed thereon.

Electronic devices having metallurgies containing copper-semiconductor

A strain sensitive columnar transducer for a data entry keyboard contains a column upstanding from the keyboard. Strain sensitive orthogonally oriented patterns are formed on a single flexible planar sheet which is sliced to place each of the patterns on a separate tab. The planar sheet is forced over the column so that the patterns lie up against the sides of the column to measure force exerted on the column.

Force sensitive transducer for use in a computer keyboard

The flexible wire guide assembly of the torch is located between the torch body and the nozzle assembly and includes at least two layers of helically wound multi-strand conductor circumferentially arranged in concentric relation to form an annular passageway for a moving electrode. The layers are contained within an inner and outer extension spring which cooperate during the application of a bending force to restrain the layers from bulging inwardly or outwardly respectively. The outer spring is held in lateral compression with its turns spaced a predetermined distance apart.
