A tubing assembly for use in conjunction with electronic catheter guidance systems is provided and includes a catheter and a sensor. The catheter extends in a longitudinal direction and has a proximal end and a distal end that define a lumen therebetween. Further, the catheter is configured for placement within a digestive tract of a patient. The sensor includes a temperature sensor, relative humidity sensor, or both, and can be located within the lumen of the catheter or in an air sampling chamber connected to the catheter. The sensor can communicate with a processor to deliver temperature and/or relative humidity readings to a display device. A constant temperature or relative humidity profile, or both after a pre-determined amount of time can indicate placement of the catheter in the digestive tract. A catheter guidance system and a method for accurately placing a catheter in the digestive tract are also provided.

System and method for real-time humidity and temperature sensing to verify proper nasogastric tube placement

A tubing assembly for use with electronic catheter guidance systems is provided and includes a catheter and an acoustic sensor. The catheter extends in a longitudinal direction and has a proximal end and a distal end that define a lumen therebetween. Further, the catheter is configured for placement within a patient's digestive tract. The acoustic sensor can be located within the lumen of the catheter or in a sampling chamber connected to the catheter. The acoustic sensor can communicate with a processor to deliver sound data to a display device. The appearance of random spikes on a frequency versus time spectrogram can indicate placement of the catheter in the digestive tract, while a rhythmic/repetitive pattern on a frequency versus time spectrogram can indicate placement of the catheter in the respiratory tract. A catheter guidance system and method for accurately placing a catheter in the digestive tract are also provided.

System and method for acoustic sensing to verify proper nasogastric tube placement

A non-electrically driven enteral feeding pump including an expandable elastomeric bladder is provided. The enteral feeding pump includes a fluid delivery tube. The fluid delivery tube controls flow rate of fluid from the pump. The present invention further describes an enteral feeding pump assembly including the portable enteral feeding pump and a peristaltic pump. The peristaltic pump can be configured to be operatively coupled to the elastomeric bladder of the enteral feeding pump for transferring fluid from a reservoir external to the elastomeric bladder into a chamber of the elastomeric bladder.

A medical device position notification system including a medical device and at least one sensor associated with the medical device, a processor, and a display device. The medical device is configured to be inserted into an orifice of the patient. The sensor measures information related to the position of the medical device in the patient's body, and communicates the information with the processor in real-time. The display device is coupled to the processor and is configured to display a tracing path of the position of the medical device in real-time. The display device is further configured to display a notification of the position of the medical device within the patient's body, such as a notification alert that the medical device has deviated from a predetermined path.

A magnetic field is used to gather information about the anatomical size and shape of a subject, such as a human. An absorbent stoma pad for encapsulating an external bolster of a feeding tube is provided. The stoma pad includes an upper layer, base layer, absorbent material, and cavity. The upper layer, which includes an upper surface and a lower surface, contains a centrally located opening with respect to a periphery of the upper layer, wherein the opening is configured to receive a tube portion of the feeding tube. The base layer, which includes an upper surface and a lower surface, contains a centrally located opening with respect to a periphery of the base layer, wherein the opening is also configured to receive the tube portion of the feeding tube. Meanwhile, the absorbent material is disposed adjacent the upper layer's lower surface. Further, the cavity permits airflow between the absorbent layer and the base layer when the external bolster is encapsulated by the stoma pad and positioned within the cavity.

An enteral feeding adapter suitable for use with a plurality of infusion sets includes an outer body component made of a flexible material and containing a feeding port for receipt of a distal connector of an infusion set. A rigid body insert is seated within an internal recess of the outer body component and defines a proximal section of the feeding port. The insert includes a first continuous radial seal barb that engages the flexible material of the outer body component, and a plurality of separate and circumferentially spaced radial second seal barbs distal to the first seal barb that engage the flexible material.
