One embodiment disclosed is an imaging system that includes a first optical component configured to receive electromagnetic energy associated with an image of an object. The system also includes a second optical component configured to split and diffract the received electromagnetic energy into a plurality of beams of different wavelengths of electromagnetic energy. The system also includes an imaging array configured to receive the plurality of beams and to selectively attenuate one or more of the plurality of beams. The system also includes an imaging detector configured to receive and capture the one or more of the plurality of beams after the beams have been selectively attenuated and recombined and re-focused into a spectrally altered version of the image.

Multispectral imaging camera

A multispectral imaging system and method in which the zero-mode channel is used to provide imaging of any of a variety of optical properties. In one example an imaging method includes spectrally dispersing received electromagnetic radiation into its spectral components with a dispersive element to produce spectrally dispersed electromagnetic radiation, transmitting the electromagnetic radiation through the dispersive element to produce non-dispersed electromagnetic radiation corresponding to a zero order diffraction mode of the dispersive element, imaging the non-dispersed electromagnetic radiation to produce a zero-mode image, and simultaneously imaging the spectrally dispersed electromagnetic radiation to produce a spectral image.

A method and apparatus involve: admitting through objective optics of an optical sight a beam of radiation representing a scene; generating two different images of the scene; supplying the images to respective portions of a field of view at a viewing section; and superimposing a respective reticle onto each image. According to a different aspect a method and apparatus involve: causing two beams of radiation within an optical sight that represent different images of a scene to approach a reflective section in different directions, the reflective section causing a portion of each beam to reach a respective portion of a field of view at a viewing section; and superimposing a respective reticle onto each beam portion.

Method and apparatus for providing a split field of view in an optical sight

A method and apparatus involve using optics to direct radiation from a scene along an optical axis, the optics having a chromatic dispersion that is a function of a characteristic spectral signature for the scene so as to produce a chromatic blur that, for an extended depth-of-field region, is substantially spatially constant along the optical axis. A different method involves: identifying for a characteristic scene a spectral response curve; determining a plurality of different wavelength nodes dividing the area under the spectral response curve into a plurality of substantially equal segments; generating a mapping relationship that maps each of the wavelength nodes to a respective one of a plurality of focal points spaced substantially equally along the optical axis; and configuring the optical system as a function of the mapping relationship.

Method and apparatus for accurate imaging with an extended depth of field

An optical demultiplexer includes a first light bandpass filter that receives an input light beam at a first angle of incidence, passes a first light wavelength, and reflects a reflected beam, and a second light bandpass filter that receives the reflected beam at a second angle of incidence and passes a second light wavelength. A beam redirection element such as a reflective surface receives the reflected beam from the first light bandpass filter and redirects the reflected beam toward the second light bandpass filter at the second angle of incidence.
