A composition comprising a cross-linked salt of (a) a polyvinylpyrrolidone having ring opened pyrrolidone groups; (b) at least one acrylic acid-containing or methacrylic acid-containing polymer; and (c) an amine-containing polymer. The composition may be used as a pressure-sensitive adhesive, has good tack, and may be peeled from the body or from an object without causing damage or injury to the body or object.

A composition includes a stable gel of neutralized chitosan and poly(N-vinyl lactam), the poly(N-vinyl lactam) having a K value of at least about 60 and mole equivalents of acid groups above about 1.4 from ring-opened pyrrolidones. The composition may also include a substrate and various additives incorporated with the gel. A method for making the gel includes mixing the chitosan and poly(N-vinyl lactam) in aqueous solution and curing. Products include wound packings, wound dressings, burn dressings, drug delivery dressings, cosmetic face masks and cosmetic wrap dressings.

A skin adhesive hydrogel formed by mixing in aqueous medium: (A) major proportion of a high molecular weight water-soluble polyvinylpyrrolidone having ring opened pyrrolidone groups and (B) a minor proportion of a water-soluble multifunctional amine-containing polymer to form a water insoluble, water swellable cross-linked salt between carboxyl groups of the ring opened pyrrolidone groups and basic amine groups of the polyfunctional amine-containing polymer. The reaction is advantageously carried out in the presence of a plasticizer.

A hydrophilic, flexible, open cell polyurethane-poly(N-vinyl lactam) interpolymer foam is obtained from the process which comprises reacting under interpolymer and foam-forming conditions (a) a substantially linear isocyanate-capped polyether polyol prepolymer having an average reactive functionality of less that about 2.0 with (b) a poly(N-vinyl lactam) and (c) a foam-forming amount of water in the presence of (d) a cell formation-regulating amount of surface active agent. The foams exhibit unexpectedly higher levels of absorptivity for aqueous fluids compared to those of known crosslinked foams. The present invention relates to a polymeric hair conditioning composition of vinyl pyrrolidone monomer, an ammonium derivative monomer and a substantially major amount, based on said monomers, of vinyl caprolactam said polymeric composition optionally containing a minor amount of stearyl methacrylate. Suitable ammonium derivative monomers include dimethylamino propyl methacrylamide, dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride and a dialkylamino alkyl methacrylate, such as for example dimethylamino ethyl methacrylate.

This invention describes an ionizing radiation sensitive material having high contrast, high sensitivity and comprised of a mixed half-ester or half amide of the reaction of an N-hydroxy or N-aminoalkyl amide and a hydroxy alkyl terminally unsaturated compound with an alkylvinyl ether-maleic anhydride copolymer. A typical material is made by reacting hydroxyethyl pyrrolidone and hydroxyethyl acrylate with octadecylvinyl ether-maleic anhydride copolymer.
