The invention comprises a connector tower assembly having a housing with insert molded contacts therein. The housing has one end with a groove for receiving a seal therealong. The housing has a central portion with a sealing surface extending therearound. A second end of the housing has latching members for engaging and securing the housing to a connector box.

Connector tower

A multiposition optical connector 2 and a mating header 4 are disclosed. The connector includes a plurality of ferrules 10 for terminating individual plastic optical fiber cables 6. An alignment fixture 100 is used to precisely align each ferrule relative to the other ferrules and relative to peripheral mating surface protrusions 52 on a molded alignment plate 12. The ferrules are ultrasonically bonded to the alignment plate. True positioning for multiple fibers located in the multiposition connector relative to active optoelectronic devices 90 located in the header can be achieved when the connector and the header are mated. A previously assembled harness assembly using the optical connector 2 and a hybrid electrical and optical connector 202 is suited for use in making multiple connections to products, such as automobiles, in which the final assembly is completed in an assembly line.

Sealed multiposition fiber optic connector

The invention comprises a pin contact having a main body with a top contact section, two side edges, and a bottom surface. The two side edges being juxtaposed to form a seam. Solder tails extend from the bottom surface of the main body to be received through holes. An orientation member is formed along the main body and along the seam. The orientation member provides the proper orientation to the main body so that the solder tails are properly aligned with the holes.

An electrical connector assembly includes a first sealing subassembly having a shielded, fluid impermeable board (48) with a stake pin (44) for fastening the board to a housing (34). Electrical components (16) are fastened to the board, and include pedestals (51) which are in sealing engagement with respective seals (52). The seals provide sealing and spring biasing forces to the components (16), as respective top edges thereof are pressingly engaged by a hydraulic valve apparatus. Thus a fluid seal barrier is created for preventing the passage of fluid to the interior of the electrical connector assembly.

An assembly for connecting inputs and outputs to a printed circuit board subassembly is disclosed. The assembly includes an electrical connector 2 that includes a housing 4 and a plurality of terminals 6 located in openings 28 extending between a mating face 22 and a rear face 24 on the housing 4. Both the terminals 6 and the openings 28 are C-shaped and adjacent terminals and openings are inverted. The terminals have a contact tab portion 12 for forming a separable connection with a mating connector 56 and a termination or weld tab section 14 for attachment to a conductor 8 joining each connector terminal 6 to a printed circuit board 10. The termination tabs 14 are located in a single row to facilitate the attachment of a wire 8 to each terminal 6 by a process such as the use of an ultrasonic bonding applicator 62.

Electrical connector for printed circuit board assembly

A connector system (10) for use with magnetic ballast is disclosed. The connector system (10) includes a mag wire carrier (12), attachable to the ballast and having anvils (24) for supporting magnet wires from the ballast coils. The system (10) further includes a connector (150) having terminals (14) with magnet wire terminating slots (56) for terminating wires on the anvils (24), a first terminating section (74) for terminating wires from electronic devices mounted on the ballast and a second terminating section (70) for terminating exit wires.

Magnetic ballast connector system

A fluorescent light fixture employing modular prewired endcaps as depicted herein. A one piece insulative body includes both fluorescent lamp supports and a junction block. Jumper assemblies comprising wires having socket terminals and junction interconnect terminals on opposite ends are assembled in cavities in the insulative body on the inner face of the insulative body. The insulative body can then be attached to the hood of the fluorescent lamp assembly and lead wires can be attached between the endcap assembly and other components such as ballasts on the fluorescent lighting fixture.

Fluorescent light connector assembly

A printed circuit edge connector having a pluraltiy of electrial terminals, each of which has a compliant contact spring opposed to a relatively more rigid support arm is disclosed. The surface of the contact spring is opposed to an edge of the support arm because the contact spring is bent transversely relative to an arm which is coplanar with the support arm. Each of the terminals is received within aligned channels and cavities and an insulative housing, each of which extend parallel to a board receiving slot opening on the upper face of the housing. The base of the terminals are received within the cavities and include terminal retention means engagable with the housing in the cavities to retain the terminals in the housing.

Printed circuit board edge connector

An electrical connector of the type used with lanceless pin and socket terminals includes both a deflectable primary lock and a hinged secondary lock. The deflectable primary lock is in the form of a plurality of outwardly deflectable arcuate members which protrude into housing cavities to engage a continuous locking surface on either a pin or socket when in the undeflected configuration. The hinged secondary lock can be shifted into flush engagement with the exterior of the primary lock only when the primary lock is in the undeflected configuration. The secondary lock thus provides both terminal position assurance, secondary locking and additional locking strength.

A sealed electrical connector assembly comprising an insert molded header, a sealed connector plug matable in an exterior header cavity and an unsealed connector plug matable in an interior header cavity is disclosed. Each connector plug incorporates a secondary lock and terminal position assurance. An outer housing cover forming a portion of the mating envelope at the forward end of the connector plugs can be secured to the forward section of the insulative housing only when a resilient latch, forming a primary latch, is in a fully seated position. If the latch is in the deflected or not fully seated position, an abutting ledge on the housing cover will engage the deflected latch to prevent assembly of the housing cover to the insulative housing.

An electrical connector assembly comprises a plastic body member and an elastomeric insert, and a flexible film surrounding the cylindrical body portion; the film having a plurality of electrical conductors thereon. The conductors are defined on the exterior surface of the film which is affixed around a portion of the cylindrical body member. The elastomeric insert member has nodes extending outwardly from the surfaces of the cylindrical portion. The electrical conductors on the flexible film establishes an interconnection to conductive pads on right angle mounted substrates such as printed circuit boards.

Elastomeric mother-daughter board electrical connector

An electrical connector has two mounting base portions with a cylindrical portion extending therebetween. The cylindrical portion is wrapped with a film having a plurality of conductive signal traces disposed on the outer surface thereof for interconnecting corresponding circuitry on two substrates. The inner surface of the film includes a screen printed ground plane thereon for partially shielding the signal traces, thereby preventing crosstalk between lines on the printed circuit boards. The first end of the film is attached to the body and the film is wrapped around the body until the second end overlaps the first end, which commons the ground traces disposed on the outer surface of the film to the ground plane disposed on the inner surface of the film.

Shielded elastomeric electric connector

An electrical connector assembly comprises a unitary elastomeric body member having a plurality of electrical conductors encircling a cylindrical body portion. The conductors are defined on the exterior surface of an insulating film which is affixed around a portion of the elastomeric body member. Integral elastomeric base members extend outwardly from the ends of the cylindrical body portion and outwardly beyond the film-conductor laminate. Annular support sleeves are inserted within the integral elastomeric base members and interconnection is established to conductive pads on substrates such as printed circuit boards.

Elastomeric electrical connector

A hemispherically shaped membrane switch assembly for attaching to generally hemispherical surfaces such as cathode ray tubes is disclosed. Also disclosed are a method and apparatus for forming the assembly. The assembly is comprised of two layers of transparent film having spaced-apart conductors on the internal surfaces of both layers. The internal surfaces are separated by spacing means, the spacing means being discontinuous at the switch sites. The conductors on the two layers cross and are spaced apart at the switch sites. The assembly is hemispherically formed to the same radius as the hemispherical surface on which the assembly is to be mounted. The assembly mounts flush to the hemispherical surface and conforms uniformly to its surface thus reducing distortion and parallax.
