A coaxial connector including an outer conductor having a hollow cylindrical body portion and a plurality of substantially parallel, circumferentially spaced apart spring fingers extending longitudinally from the body portion, each of the fingers having a free end terminating with a radially outwardly projecting latch portion; an inner conductor disposed coaxially within the outer conductor; a cylindrical insulator member disposed between the inner and outer conductors; a hollow cylindrical and electrically conductive bushing surrounding the fingers and at least a section of the body portion, the bushing having an inner surface defining an annular recess receiving the latch portions; and an annular coiled, electrically conductive spring engaged between the body portion and the bushing. The spring fingers facilitate rapid interconnection of the outer conductor and the bushing while the spring provides RFI suppression.

Microwave coaxial connector

An electrical connector assembly including a male plug having a male inner conductor and a cylindrical male outer conductor surrounding the inner conductor and having an annular outer surface portion; a female plug having a female inner conductor and a cylindrical female outer conductor surrounding the female inner conductor and having an annular inner surface portion surrounding the outer surface portion, and an annular electrically conductive coil spring extending around the outer surface portion and engaged between the inner and outer surface portions and wherein the spring is adapted to exert therebetween forces that cause axial loading between the male and female outer conductors. In addition to locking the male plug to the female plug, the electrically conductive coil spring enhances the electrical connection between the outer conductors and improves radio frequency interference suppression.

An hermetically sealed electrical feedthrough assembly including an elongated inner electrical conductor having first and second ends; a glass body hermetically sealed around one length portion of the inner conductor adjacent to the first end thereof; a metal adapter hermetically sealed around the glass body and adapted for mounting in a wall of a housing; a tubular outer electrical conductor enclosing and coaxial with another length portion of the inner electrical conductor, the outer electrical conductor being separated from the inner electrical conductor by an annular volume and having one end portion electrically connected to the metal adapter and an opposite end portion disposed adjacent to the second end of the inner electrical conductor; and electrical insulation filling the annular volume and electrically isolating the outer electrical conductor from the another length portion of the inner electrical conductor.

Hermetically sealed electrical feedthrough and method of making same

A Super High Frequency (SHF) coaxial cable and connector assembly for connection of the coaxial cable thereof to a relatively low impedance circuit, such as a YIG filter for which the connection impedance is on the order of ten ohms, has a connector providing a port for receiving a conventional fifty ohm coaxial cable plug and includes: a ten ohm SHF coaxial cable having a metal ferrule soldered to the outer conductor at the connector end thereof providing a substantially larger diameter outer conductor at that end than the outer conductor of the ten ohm cable; and a coaxial connector having a coaxial recess in the housing thereof at one end to accommodate the cable ferrule and into which the ferrule is force-fit to make an intimate metal to metal contact therewith, while the ten ohm cable center conductor engages the connector center conductor within the recess; the inside diameter of the metal walls of the ferrule and the coaxial connector housing from the one end of the connector (where the ferrule is attached), to the port at the other end becoming progressively larger and forming a transformer from ten ohm to fifty ohm coaxial line, so that the port end of the connector accepts and matches a conventional fifty ohm SHF coaxial cable plug.

A Super High Frequency (SHF) cable and connector assembly for connection to a relatively low impedance circuit, such as a YIG filter for which the connection impedance is on the order of ten ohms, includes: a SHF coaxial cable having a metal ferrule soldered to the outer conductor at one end thereof providing a substantially larger diameter outer conductor at that end than the outer conductor of the cable; and a coaxial plug connector having a coaxial recess in the housing thereof at one end to accommodate the cable ferrule and into which the ferrule is force-fit to make an intimate metal to metal contact therewith, while the cable center conductor engages the connector center conductor within the recess; the connector having within a space that is common to the connector housing, dielectric and center conductor and is filled with a suitable dielectric epoxy while the housing and center conductor are in proper alignment so that when the epoxy sets, it captivates the center conductor maintaining it in alignment with the housing and the housing recess and so it will receive the cable center conductor that extends inside the ferrule when the ferrule is force-fit into the housing recess. After force-fitting the ferrule to the connector, the interface between the outer diameter of the ferrule and the housing recess is sealed with epoxy, thereby sealing the electrical connections of the cable and connector within the connector.
