According to one or more embodiments disclosed herein, a system component of a fluid catalytic reactor system may include a catalyst separation section, a riser, and a reactor vessel. The catalyst separation section may include separation section walls defining an interior region of the catalyst separation section, a gas outlet port, a riser port, a separation device, and a catalyst outlet port. The riser may extend through the riser port of the catalyst separation section and include an external riser section and an internal riser section. The reactor vessel may include a reactor vessel inlet port, and a reactor vessel outlet port in fluid communication with the external riser section of the riser.

System components of fluid catalytic reactor systems

A gas-solids reaction system with termination devices to connect a riser with one or more separation devices. The termination devices have a radius of curvature that is at least 1.0 times as great as the diameter of the conduit forming the termination device. The termination devices can be openly or closely coupled to the separation devices.

Riser termination devices for reduced catalyst attrition and losses

Each of a plurality of cyclones is suspended from the roof of a vessel by means of tubular extensions of their barrels. These tubular extensions are slotted lengthwise to minimize thermal stresses in the vessel head. Importantly, this hanging scheme provides a direct extension within the load path for the cyclone weight, thus supporting the cyclone in tension stresses rather than high bending stresses.

High temperature hanging system for fluid solid cyclone/plenum systems

The present invention provides a cylindrical reactor vessel having a top end with an inlet and a bottom end with an outlet end. A refractory insulating lining is applied on the interior of the wall of the vessel. A cylindrical vertically disposed first inner basket having a generally closed top first end and an open second end in communication with the outlet conduit and having fluid pervious sidewalls surrounded by a vertically disposed outer cylindrical second basket defining a space therebetween for containment of subdivided contact material. The cylindrical second basket also has a top end, which is closed, and fluid pervious sidewalls. The cylindrical second basket is spaced away from the refractory lining of the vessel at a sufficient distance, to provide an annular space for fluid, admitted through the inlet, to progress downwardly through the annular space and then radially inwardly through the contact material contained in the space between the first and second basket. The fluid, ultimately passes into the centrally located first basket for collection and then for removal through the outlet conduit. Guide means are provided at the top end of the second basket, which assists in maintaining the basket in a central position, but permitting its movement during thermal cycling of the vessel. A horizontal annular refractory ring is provided in the bottom of the vessel for supporting the second basket.

Radial flow cold wall reactor

The instrumentation probe of the present invention comprises a tubular housing for enclosing a sensing element, the tubular housing being adapted to project into a process stream. The tubular housing is surrounded by an outer casing that has its longitudinal axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the tubular housing and which outer casing is aerodynamically shaped to be substantially non-disruptive of the flow of the process stream while protecting the tubular housing from erosion.

Accordingly, the present invention, in one embodiment, encompasses an apparatus for the fluidized catalytic cracking of a hydrocarbon feed comprising: a riser which is generally vertically positioned within a catalyst disengaging zone and which has a plurality of openings around the circumference of the riser at its discharge end. The openings in the riser have a vertical stub portion that extends tangentially outwardly from the riser and communicates with a first end of an upwardly sloping curvilinear tunnel that terminates at a second end. The second end of the tunnel opens into a tangential opening in the primary cyclone. The area of the opening of the first end of the tunnel is larger than the area of the opening of the second end of the tunnel.

An improved trickle valve is provided which includes a curved tubular body portion terminating at its bottom end with a valve seat. The trickle valve also includes a flapper plate which is pivotably mounted to cover the valve seat when the valve is in the closed position and which swings away from the valve seat when the valve is in the open position. Importantly, the tubular body portion has a predetermined radius of curvatuve sufficient to increase, under conditions of use, the stability of the dipleg solids level over that of trickle valves having a straight run tubular body portion. Indeed, the radius of curvature of the tubular body portion preferably is in the range of from about 11/2 times to 21/2 times the diameter of the tubular body portion.

Trickle valve

The slide valve of the present invention is adapted for use in horizontal piping runs. It comprises a valve body, an orifice plate, a sliding plate and guide means for the sliding plate. The orifice plate is located in the valve body and inclined at an angle, .alpha., selected to achieve a predetermined seating force when the sliding plate, also inclined, is in the valve body in the closed position and bearing on the orifice plate. The guide means are provided for guiding the slide plate when it is moved in and out of the valve body under conditions of use.

Flue gas shut-off valve

The present invention comprises suspending vessel internal components such as cyclones from a vessel roof by support hangers having a predetermined length and thermal coefficient of expansion such that the thermal expansion of support hangers of different lengths is such that the elevation of suspended components relative to each other under variable thermal conditions is substantially constant.
