This invention relates generally to a improvement in a process for the purification of fluoroxy compounds, such as bis(fluoroxy)difluoromethane and fluoroxytrifluoromethane produced by the fluorination of carbon oxides. The improvement in effecting purification of the fluoroxy compounds is effected by initially selectively removing the fluorine by contacting with a crystalline zeolite and then removing the carbon oxide by selective adsorption.

Process for purifying fluoroxy compounds

Active fluoride catalysts that are useful in producing electrophilic fluorination agents; especially useful in producing BDM from the reaction of fluorine with carbon dioxide and FTM from the reaction of fluorine with carbonyl fluoride. The fluoride catalyst comprises a mixture of two or more fluorides selected from a transition metal fluoride, an alkali metal fluoride and/or an alkaline earth metal fluoride. Alternately, the fluoride catalyst is one or more fluorides, such as alkali metal fluorides, alkaline earth metal fluorides, and/or transition metal fluorides, deposited on an inert support.

Active fluoride catalysts for fluorination reactions

A method is disclosed for the kinetic separation of gas mixtures using gas-solid chromatography. More specifically, a method is disclosed for the kinetically driven gas-solid chromatographic separation of NF.sub.3 from CF.sub.4 in significant volumes over a specific class of adsorbents to recover NF.sub.3 at high purities, such as 99.99% NF.sub.3.
