The present invention relates generally to diagnostic assay systems and methods thereof that are capable of conducting and recording assays in a simple and reliable manner.

Apparatus for performing diagnostic testing

The present invention relates to a hand-held diagnostic testing system and method employing apparatus that can effect a chemiluminescent reaction and record the same on photographic film.

Diagnostic assay system for conducting a luminescent test and recording luminescent signals generated thereby on an image recording material. The system comprising a light-tight housing assembly, an image recording system, and an assembly for holding at least one chemical implementation device mounted in the assembly. The system also including a movable shutter mechanism and a biasing device for moving the shutter. The present invention also includes, in one embodiment, a method of conducting a chemiluminescent test comprising: providing a implementation and diagnostic testing device; placing the implementation device in the assembly; applying a force to a penetrating member; moving a shutter actuator; actuating a timer; returning the shutter; and then ejecting the image.

Method and apparatus for performing diagnostic tests

The present invention provides a method of providing a self-contained processor having a luminescent testing material capable of generating a read-out signal in response to contact with a reagent of interest in a test sample. In an alternate aspect, the present invention also provides a portable and self-contained diagnostic assay system for detecting and recording the presence of a luminescent signal generated by a reaction between a luminescent testing material and a reagent in a test sample on a self-developing film assemblage.

Diagnostic assay system and method having a luminescent readout signal

A hand-held portable diagnostic assay system for conducting and recording luminescent reactions for generating and recording luminescent read-out signals generated by a testing assembly and recordable on an image recording medium. A carrier assembly receives the testing assembly and is operable between first and second conditions. An assembly prevents unintended insertion of the testing assembly into the carrier assembly when in the first condition, and a mechanism prevents unintended removal of the testing assembly from the carrier assembly when in the second condition.

There is described a film cassette for housing and dispensing film units of the self-developing type. The cassette includes structure which ensures that it can be inserted only in photographic apparatus particularly adapted to receive it.

The photo cabin of the invention provides a background for an image, subject lighting and possibly support for an external camera; furthermore, the photo cabin is foldable, thereby facilitating transport, handling and storage. Electrical power and signal connections for controlling and energizing the subject lighting are also included.

A photo booth for capturing an image of a subject and providing reproductions of the image is constructed from self-contained modules--an apparatus module and a background module--linked via a roof module and a floor member. The modules can be easily bundled for handling and storing and occupy, when bundled together, a substantially smaller floor space than when the modules are secured to each other for operation as a photo booth. The apparatus module includes an image capturing device, such as a photographic camera using self-developing film, an electronic camera or a combination thereof, and an image reproduction device and may further include means for illuminating the subject, for image processing and display and for receiving payment. Means for controlling the temperature and humidity inside the apparatus module may also be provided. The apparatus module may also be used as a stand-alone unit. Translucent panels adapted to be illuminated for displaying messages may be secured to the outside walls of the modules.

There is presented an adaptor for attachment to an instant camera to enable the camera to produce an exposed film unit having indicia imprinted thereon during photographic exposure of the film unit. The adaptor includes a face plate and attachment structure extending therefrom for releasably connecting the adaptor to the camera. The face plate has provision therein for a lens orifice adapted to be in alignment with the camera objective lens opening, a view finder orifice adapted to be in alignment with the camera view finder window, and a light source orifice adapted to be off-set from alignment with the camera light source. A side of the face plate adapted to be opposed to face surfaces of the camera is provided with a light reflective surface. Light from the camera light source is in part intercepted by and reflected from the adaptor reflective surface and directed thereby to the camera objective lens opening.

Adaptor for instant camera

An image bearing template is inserted into a film assemblage incorporating a cassette with instant-type film units therein. The cassette is inserted into a camera to produce film units having the indicia of the template thereon. Said camera includes a flash unit and a lens opening and interposed between the camera housing and the object to be photographed is a shield. The shield is generally opaque having a white reflective surface thereon which reflects part of the light from the flash unit back toward the lens of the camera. Some of the light from the flash unit passes through an aperture in the shield to be reflected from the object to be photographed and light reflected therefrom passes through a second aperture in the shield and directly to the lens in the front wall of the camera.

An overlay with indicia is sandwiched between a pair of flat plates to form an assembly which is adapted to be mounted in the exposure window of a film cassette housing. The assembly locates the overlay out of any physical contact with film units in the cassette.

A camera having a flash for illuminating an object to be photographed includes a film cassette inside the camera housing. A template is located within the film cassette to overlie a stack of film units during their sequential exposure. The template includes an opaque section with transparent portions to cause an identifying indicia to be produced on any resulting photograph. A reflector is mounted on the camera outside of the field of view of its objective lens and intermediate the flash and the object to be photographed, to reflect a portion of the light from the flash back through the camera lens to impinge on the template. The result, in the developed film unit, is increased contrast in the section of the photograph underlying the template between the opaque and transparent portions.

Camera adaptor kit

An instant or self-developing transparency film assemblage for producing a 35 mm film transparency ready for mounting in a frame for subsequent viewing in cooperation with a viewer or projector. The film assemblage includes (1) a film chip having an opaque rear surface (2) a first opaque leader for initially covering a front or lens facing surface of the film chip to protect a photosensitive or image-recording layer of the film chip from exposure during the loading of the latter into a camera, (3) a second leader for enabling an operator to pull an exposed film chip between a pair of spread rollers which spread a processing liquid between layers of the film chip to initiate formation of a visible image therein, and (4) a sheet of opaque material which is adapted to be laid across the lens facing surface as the film chip is moved between the spread rollers. The opaque sheet, in combination with the opaque rear surface of the film chip, define a lighttight chamber to protect a developing image in the film chip as it is removed from a camera.

35 mm self-developing transparency film assemblage

A kit for converting a conventional 35 mm camera for use with instant or self-developing transparency film assemblages. The kit includes a camera loading door defining a lighttight film withdrawal slot, and a spread roller assembly. The spread roller assembly has a generally cylindrical external configuration which approximates that of a standard 35 mm film cassette. The spread roller assembly cooperates with a film cassette supply chamber in the camera for properly orientating the spread roller assembly relative thereto and to the self-developing film assemblage.
