Apparatus and methods for therapeutically treating at least a portion of a body. Apparatus and methods according to various embodiments of the disclosure include a platform for supporting at least a portion of a body. The platform includes at least one plate, a drive lever supported from the plate, and a damping member including a cantilever spring in contact with the drive lever. The platform is actuated at a first frequency. Next, the damping member is oscillated to create a force with a second frequency. Then, the force is distributed to at least a portion of the platform.

Apparatus and method for therapeutically treating damaged tissues, bone fractures, osteopenia or osteoporosis

Apparatus and methods for therapeutically treating bone fractures, osteopenia, osteoporosis, or other tissue conditions. A platform supports a body to be treated. An oscillator is positioned within the platform and is configured to impart an oscillating force on the body. A capacitor assembly is positioned adjacent the platform for automatically determining the mass of the body being supported on the platform. Once the mass of the body is determined, an amplitude of the frequency of the oscillating force is adjusted to provide a desired therapeutic treatment to the patient. Also, the capacitor assembly is configured to turn the oscillator on and off as a function of whether or not a body is being supported on the platform.

Systems and methods for therapeutically treating damaged tissues, bone fractures, osteopenia, or osteoporosis. Systems and methods according to various embodiments of the invention include an oscillating platform for therapeutically treating damaged tissues, bone fractures, osteopenia, osteoporosis, or other tissue conditions in a body. The oscillating platform supports a body. The oscillating platform includes an upper plate; a lower plate; a drive lever supported from the lower plate; a damping member in contact with the drive lever; and a distributing lever arm in contact with the upper plate. The drive lever actuates at a first predetermined frequency. Next, the damping member damps the actuation of the drive lever, creating an oscillating force at a second predetermined frequency. A portion of the oscillating force transfers from the damping member to the distributing lever arm. Then a portion of the oscillating force transfers from the distributing lever arm to the platform so that the body on the platform receives an oscillation at a frequency effective for treatment of damaged tissues, bone fractures, osteopenia, osteoporosis, or other tissue conditions.

An apparatus for adjustably securing an ultrasonic transducer to an orthopedic appliance is disclosed. The apparatus having; (a) an optional adjustable clamp adapted to adjustably secure the apparatus to an element of an orthopedic appliance; (b) a transducer holder adapted to secure the transducer to the apparatus; (c) an adjustable connector adapted to adjustably connect the optional adjustable clamp to the transducer holder.

Transducer mounting assembly

An apparatus and method for mounting an ultrasound transducer head module. The apparatus includes an insert having an axial bore therein and a plurality of tabs extending radially therefrom. A spacer is provided and configured to fit within a void in a cast. The spacer has a hole therein to insertably receive the insert. An ultrasound transmission-enhancing medium is positioned within the hole in the spacer and adjacent a treatment location. The ultrasound treatment head module is then positioned within the insert and means for biasing it toward the ultrasound transmission-enhancing medium is provided. A strap may be provided to secure the apparatus adjacent a body portion to be treated, with or without the existence of a cast.
