Methods, compositions and kits are disclosed. Enzyme conjugates of Formula I may be employed in assays for the determination of an amphetamine and/or a methamphetamine. Immunogenic conjugates of Formula I may be employed to prepare antibodies for an amphetamine and/or for a methamphetamine for use in assays for the determination of an amphetamine and/or a methamphetamine. The enzyme conjugates may also be employed to screen antibodies for use in such methods.

Controlled release devices are disclosed which are biocompatible and can be implanted into the eye. The devices have a core comprising a drug and a polymeric outer layer which is substantially impermeable to the entrance of an environmental fluid and substantially impermeable to the release of the drug during a delivery period, and drug release is effected through an orifice in the outer layer. These devices have an orifice area of less than 10% of the total surface area of the device and can be used to deliver a variety of drugs with varying degrees of solubility and or molecular weight. Methods are also provided for using these drug delivery devices.

Controlled-release biocompatible ocular drug delivery implant devices and methods

Compounds having detergent properties are disclosed. When a modifying reagent is brought into contact with these compounds, the detergent properties are decreased. These compounds are useful, for example, as solubilizing agents for microbial antigens and/or antibodies and for reversibly wetting hydrophobic surfaces. Accordingly, methods are disclosed for increasing the hydrophilic properties of a material, such as a microbial antigen and/or antibody, the methods generally comprising the steps of contacting the material with the compound having detergent properties and a modifiable group, and modifying the compound with a modifying reagent. Kits are also disclosed for use in accordance with this methodology.

Novel assays for ligands and receptors employing novel compounds that are conjugates of squarates dyes and members of a specific binding pair (sbp) are disclosed. The sbp members are selected from the group consisting of ligand and its complementary receptor. The sbp member is covalently or non-covalently bound to the squarate dye, which usually has an absorption maximum greater than 600 nanometers. The novel conjugates are employed in assays for determining the presence or amount of an sbp member analyte in a sample suspected of containing such analyte. Kits comprising such novel conjugates are also disclosed.
