A process for the removal of hydrogen sulfide from a variety of gas streams is disclosed. The gas stream containing the sour gases is contacted with a reactant solution comprising iron (Fe III) lignosulfonate. The hydrogen sulfide is converted to sulfur, and the reactant is reduced. The process may be cyclic, and may include sulfur removal and regeneration of the reactant.

A method and apparatus for measuring trace amounts of lead alkyls in gasoline wherein a small sample of the gasline is injected into a vaporizer, with a carrier gas transporting the sample through the vaporizer to a filter that separates the interfering olefins and aromatic components from the lead alkyls in the sample. The discharge from the filter is supplied to an electrochemical cell of a type known as a galvanic sensor whose output signal is integrated or otherwise utilized to obtain a measurement of the quantity of lead alkyls in the sample.

Electrochemical detection for lead alkyls

A method for measuring the quantity of olefins present in a hydrocarbon stream wherein a measured quantity of the hydrocarbon is injected into a vaporizing furnace. A carrier gas transports the vaporized hydrocarbon through the furnace to an electrochemical cell whose signal is integrated to provide a measure of the olefins present in the sample.
