An upper mount assembly for a suspension strut which incorporates an elastomer bushing operatively connecting the piston rod to support structure that works in shear over initial travel but has compression load buildup at the limit of mount travel. The mount assembly is a unitized multi-element construction having a jounce bumper to provide a load path for suspension spring assist and a load deflection curve to improve suspension characteristics. In this invention, load buildup is achieved in jounce and rebound with the use of a rate washer which is moved upwardly by the strut in jounce movement. Initial travel works the bushing in shear but the elastomer becomes compressed between the washer and an outside metal wall to provide increasing spring rate. When the rod moves vertically downwardly in rebound, the washer controls the load buildup and compresses the upper portion of the jounce bumper for soft entry into rebound.

A room air conditioner unit having juxtaposed main function switch means and auxiliary function switch means operative in a control circuit with an electric timer located in the unit's control area. The main function switch means has interlocked switches to operate a fan motor at low fan speed only, low fan speed cooling or high fan speed cooling while the auxiliary function switch means provides a plurality of manually actuable interlocked power-saver and timer switches such that a minimum of twelve different combinations of functions are achieved by the control circuit.

A room air conditioner unit having an electric timer located at the control area with the timer including a timer motor which runs continuously and a timer switch electrically connected in the unit's control circuit with a manually operable multiple selector switch. Upon the timer switch being preset to open and close the control circuit allows the user to select either a timed electricity saver mode wherein the fan motor cycles on and off with the compressor or a timed cooling mode wherein the fan motor runs continuously while the compressor is cycled by the unit thermostat.

An add-on humidifier kit for use with a room air conditioner includes a cabinet frame extension for mounting on the room-side of the cabinet sleeve. The extension is composed of an upper water distribution header and a lower drain trough retaining a water pad located in an extension of the discharge duct of the air conditioner, while an electrical heating unit is mounted in the extension to heat the return room air to achieve a comfortable temperature, allowing the heated air to pick up moisture from the water pad. A portable water tank assembly is adapted to be positioned on the floor beneath the air conditioner and electrically coupled to the air conditioner through separable connectors providing tank mounted controls for the heating unit along with a humidistat, water flow regulator and water pump mounted in the water tank unit. Controls for the air conditioner electric fan motor are incorporated in the control box of the air conditioner whereby the air conditioner and the humidifier both use the same fan control.

A room air conditioner wall sleeve and subbase assembly for a 277 voltage range permanently wired installation located in a room wall opening. The subbase casing has a pair of side-by-side removable covered openings providing access to separate enclosures, one of which encases an electrical outlet receptacle for the power cord plug of the air conditioner chassis while the other enclosure encases the permanent field or 'hard' wiring connection for the installation. The access cover for the power cord receptacle enclosure has a self-contained outwardly formed shield, including an upwardly extending portion that defines, with the sleeve front flange and sleeve front assembly, a convenient code approved electrical duct passage for encasing the power cord.
