A method and system for increasing the performance of an automotive plate antenna system are provided. A carbon loaded material is used to enhance performance of the plate antenna. The method and resulting systems have a first metallic plate of the antenna arranged and secured on a planar surface of the carbon loaded material. The method realizes an antenna system with reduced size and weight without a reduction in performance.

Automotive radio antenna and method for making the same

An inductive charger for a portable electronic device is provided. The portable electronic device has a radio frequency ('RF') antenna configured for receiving an outgoing RF signal, as well as a secondary coil. The inductive charger includes a primary coil configured for creating a magnetic flux. The magnetic flux is configured for coupling to the secondary coil in the portable electronic device to induce current. The inductive charger includes RF coupling assembly that receives an incoming RF signal. The RF coupling assembly is configured to radiate the outgoing RF signal that is based on the incoming RF signal. The inductive charger includes a radiator configured to receive the outgoing RF signal from the RF coupling assembly. The radiator is configured to radiate the outgoing RF signal to the RF antenna of the portable electronic device.

Inductive charger for providing radio frequency ('RF') signal to a portable electric device

An antenna system includes a controller operatively connected to a first antenna and a second antenna, the controller including a vehicle position input configured and disposed to receive GPS position data identifying a location of a motor vehicle and a vehicle heading input configured and disposed to receive GPS heading data for the motor vehicle. The controller is configured and disposed to selectively employ at least one of the first and second antennas to receive a radio signal based on received location and heading data for the motor vehicle.

Motor vehicle antenna system

A configurable antenna element comprises a conductor encased in a foam substrate with a pressure sensitive adhesive applied to a surface of the foam substrate for application of the configurable antenna to a surface.

Configurable antenna element

An antenna system connectable to a vehicle includes an exterior antenna, an interior antenna, and a data transmission line. The vehicle has a wall including an outer surface and an inner surface that generally opposes the outer surface, where the inner surface and the outer surface cooperate together to create an aperture. The wall defines an exterior environment and an interior cabin. The exterior antenna is located within the exterior environment and is connectable to the vehicle. The interior antenna is located within the interior cabin defined. The data transmission line transmits RF signals and is in communication with both the exterior antenna and the interior antenna. The transmission line passes through the aperture located in the plate between the exterior antenna and the interior antenna.

In-vehicle antenna system and method

An antenna system connectable to a vehicle includes a primary antenna, a primary data transmission line, a secondary antenna, a secondary data transmission line, and an RF device. The primary antenna is connected to the vehicle and is located in an exterior environment. The secondary antenna is connected to the vehicle and is located in one of the exterior environment and an interior cabin of the vehicle. The primary data transmission line transmits a first RF signal and is in communication with the primary antenna. The secondary data transmission line transmits a secondary RF signal and is in communication with the secondary antenna. The fixed RF device is connected to the vehicle and is in communication with the primary data transmission line and the secondary data transmission line to provide an output RF signal.

Multiple antenna element system and method

An antenna of the present invention includes an electrical half wave monopole antenna element fixedly attached to a surface, where the antenna element includes an electrical center. A first electrical feed point is located on a first side of the antenna element. A second electrical feed point is located on a second side of the antenna element. The second side generally opposes the first side of the antenna element. The first and second electrical feed points are about one-twentieth a wavelength from the electrical center. A first signal corresponds with the first electrical feed point and a second signal corresponds with the second electrical feed point. The first signal is out of phase when compared to the second signal.

Antenna diversity system

An antenna system connectable to a vehicle includes an exterior antenna and an interior antenna. The vehicle has a wall including an outer surface and an inner surface generally opposing the outer surface. The inner surface and the outer surface cooperate together to create an aperture. The wall defines an exterior environment and an interior cabin of the vehicle. The exterior antenna is disposed on the outer surface of the wall, where the exterior antenna transmits and receives RF signals to and from an external RF device that is located in the exterior environment. The interior antenna is located within the interior cabin defined by the inner surface of the wall. The interior antenna receives and transmits RF signals to and from an interior RF device located within the interior cabin.

A center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL) assembly for a vehicle includes an integrated radio frequency (RF) antenna. The CHMSL assembly has an outer lens element, a lamp assembly configured to emit light through the outer lens element, and a housing for the outer lens element and the lamp assembly. The housing is adapted for attachment to an upper rear portion of the vehicle, and the housing has an interior region defined therein. The CHMSL assembly also has an RF antenna element located within the interior region. The RF antenna element is configured and positioned such that it does not obstruct a light path from the lamp assembly to the outer lens element.
