A seating piece, such as a chaise longue, includes a foldable base unit and a seating unit. The base unit includes side frame members that are rotatable into a generally horizontal, collapsible position, and into a laterally spaced-apart, generally vertical position. The seating unit includes a seat section and a back section rotatably joined together to permit adjustment of the seat and back sections relative to each other; the seating unit including connecting means for releasably engaging the side frame members when these frame members are in their generally vertical position and releasably connecting the seating unit to the base unit without preventing rotational movement between the seat and back sections.

A foldable furniture unit includes a foldable base framework provided by a plurality of generally U-shaped support members; each including a horizontal cross-piece joined at opposite ends to vertically disposed leg sections. Each leg section of each support member is adjacent to and substantially vertically aligned with a leg section of a different support member to provide a plurality of spaced-apart, double-leg section supports; and connectors rotatably join together the double-leg sections of each of the supports. Preferably, the foldable base framework is employed in a table having a top that is removably connected through retainers to horizontal cross-pieces of more than one U-shaped support member.

Foldable furniture unit

A foldable furniture unit employing scissors-acting seat frames and upright side frames has restraining members on the seat rail portions of the seat frames adapted to be positioned adjacent portions of the side frames to reduce relative movement between the seat rails and the side frames and thereby stabilize the unit when it is in unfolded condition for use. The restraining members preferably are provided by cap-like members which are also capable of at least partially closing welt and core receiving slots in the seat rails by which a flexible seat web is secured to the seat rails.
