Hydrophilic polysiloxane elastomer

A composition is disclosed, which comprises (I) an aryl component; (II) a methyl component; and (III) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The (I) aryl component comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane and (B) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane. Similarly, the (II) methyl component comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane and (B) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane. A method of preparing the composition is also disclosed. Further, a method of preparing an article, e.g. a light diffuser, and a lighting device comprising the light diffuser are disclosed. Finally, a method of diffusely transmitting light with the light diffuser is disclosed.

Composition, light diffuser and device formed thereby, and related methods

The present invention provides methods for preparing emulsions of silicone fluids having pituitous rheological properties. The present invention also provides emulsions of a silicone fluid having pituitous rheological properties and composition comprising the emulsions. The compositions include, but are not limited to, personal care compositions and compositions for hair shampoo, hair conditioner, hair treatment composition, or skin care product.

Pituitous silicone emulsions

A cosmetic composition comprises (A) a silicone elastomer. The (A) silicone elastomer comprises the reaction product of: (a) a branched organosiloxane; (b) a crosslinking agent; and (c) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The cosmetic composition further comprises (B) a carrier fluid. A method of preparing the cosmetic composition is also disclosed.

Siloxane composition

A silicone elastomer composition ('composition') has customizable sensory characteristics. The composition includes a pituitous silicone fluid that includes a hydrosilylation reaction product and a carrier fluid. The hydrosilylation reaction product generally includes alkenyl or Si&#x2014;H functionality. The hydrosilylation reaction product is the reaction product of a first linear organopolysiloxane including (RRRSiO&#x2014;) and (RRSi)) units, and a second linear organopolysiloxane including (RRRSiO&#x2014;) and (RRSiO) units. Each of R-Ris independently a hydrocarbon group so long as at least one of R-Ris an alkenyl group and at least one of R-Ris a hydrogen atom. The first linear organopolysiloxane has a DP of from 100 to 15,000. The second linear organopolysiloxane has a DP of from 4 to 1,000. The composition also includes a silicone elastomer different from the hydrosilylation reaction product. Personal care compositions can include the composition.

Silicone elastomer composition

A fluid composition comprises I) a first component and II) second component different from the first component I). The first component I) comprises at least one copolymer. The copolymer can include a cross-linked siloxane (e.g. a cross-linked aminosiloxane), a silicone polyether copolymer (e.g. an (AB)silicone polyether copolymer), and/or a saccharide siloxane copolymer. The second component II) comprises an organopolysiloxane resin (e.g. an MQ resin) and/or an acrylate copolymer. The fluid composition can further comprise a carrier fluid, such as a silicone, an organic solvent, and/or an organic oil. The fluid composition may have a viscosity of at least 100 mPa&#xb7;s at 23&#xb0; C. and exhibit pituitous rheological properties (generally determined from a plot of normal force (in Pascals) vs a perpendicular shear rate in (sec)). Also disclosed is a personal care composition that comprises the fluid composition.

Fluid compositions and personal care

A cross-linked composition comprises the reaction product of an organohydrogensiloxane and a cross-linker, in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst. The organohydrogensiloxane comprises siloxy units of average formula (I): (RSiO)(R&#x2014;SiO)(RRSiO)(RHSiO)(RRSiO)(RRSiO)&#x2014;(RSi&#x2014;O). Each of Rand Ris an independently selected hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group. Ris a hydrogen atom or a group having at least one carboxyl group or a precursor thereof. Ris an independently selected substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group. Further, a&#x2265;0, b&#x2265;0, c&#x2265;1, d&#x2265;0, and e&#x2265;1. The cross-linker has at least two aliphatic unsaturated hydrocarbon groups. A method of forming the cross-linked composition comprises the steps of providing the organohydrogensiloxane and cross-linker, and combining the organohydrogensiloxane and cross-linker in the presence of the hydrosilylation catalyst to form the cross-linked composition. A cosmetic composition is provided that includes the cross-linked composition and at least one cosmetic component.

Cross-linked composition and cosmetic composition comprising the same

A pituitous silicone fluid includes a hydrosilylation reaction product and a carrier fluid. The hydrosilylation reaction product is the reaction product of a first linear organopolysiloxane and a second linear organopolysiloxane. The first linear organopolysiloxane includes (RRRSiO) and (RRSiO) units. Each of R-Ris independently a hydrocarbon group so long as at least one of R1-R5 is an alkenyl group. In addition, the first linear organopolysiloxane has a degree of polymerization of from 100 to 15,000. The second linear organopolysiloxane includes (RRRSiO) and (RRSiO) units. Each of R-Ris independently a hydrocarbon group, polyether group, siloxane group, or polyol group, so long as at least one of R-Ris a hydrogen atom. In addition, the second linear organopolysiloxane has a degree of polymerization of from 4 to 1,000. The hydrosilylation reaction product includes alkenyl or Si&#x2014;H functionality. Personal care compositions can include the pituitous silicone fluid.

Pituitous silicone fluid

A cosmetic composition is provided that includes an elastomer and at least one cosmetic component optionally in a cosmetically acceptable medium. The elastomer is according to the general formula: A-B-A or B-A-B, wherein each A independently comprises a polysiloxane moiety having at least two siloxy (Si&#x2014;O) groups and wherein each B independently comprises a moiety, or a precursor thereof, having at least two carboxyl groups and wherein B is bonded to a silicon atom in A.

Cosmetic composition comprising a carboxy-functional elastomer

A cross-linked composition comprises the reaction product of a first reactant having at least one hydroxyl or amine (functional) group, a second reactant having at least one hydroxyl or amine (functional) group, and a siloxane having at least two terminal anhydride groups reactive with the functional groups of the first and second reactants. The first reactant is selected from the group of first siloxanes having at least one hydroxyl or amine group, a first organic alcohol having at least one hydroxyl group, a first organic amine having at least one amine group, or combinations thereof. The second reactant is selected from the group of second siloxanes having at least one hydroxyl or amine group, a second organic alcohol having at least one hydroxyl group, a second organic amine having at least one amine group, or combinations thereof. If utilized, the first siloxanes and/or second siloxanes are different from the siloxane.

Cross-linked composition and method of forming the same

A cross-linked composition comprises the reaction product of siloxanes having pendant anhydride groups and a reactant having hydroxyl and/or amine functional groups. The cross-linked composition can be of the following general formula (I): (I). Refer to formula (1) Each X can be of the following general formula (i): (i). Refer to formula (i) Each of W and W* is independently an oxygen atom or N&#x2014;R, with R independently being a hydrogen atom or R. Each of Y, R, and Ris an independently selected divalent group. Each of R, R, R, R, R, and Ris an independently selected substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group. Each of w and ww, and each of y and yy, is an independently selected integer from 0 to 1,000. Each of x and xx is an independently selected integer from 1 to 100. Typically, w and y are not simultaneously 0, and ww and yy are not simultaneously 0. 

This invention pertains to neutralized silicone elastomer dispersions and methods for making neutralized silicone elastomer dispersions. This invention also pertains to compositions comprising the neutralized silicone elastomer and an acid reactive compound. The silicone elastomer dispersion are neutralized typically by blending the silicone elastomer dispersion with a base such as sodium bicarbonate or by adding a basic neutralizing agent to one or more of the raw materials used to make the silicone elastomer dispersion and removing the basic neutralizing agent by filtration or any other suitable means.

Stabilized elastomer dispersions

A clear, stable, dry-and-non-sticky feeling antiperspirant having an antiperspirant active, a solvent, and a polar silicone emollient. The antiperspirant active is solubilized in the solvent. The polar silicone emollient has an OH group or polyether or mixture thereof. The polyether has an average length of 6 or less of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or butylenes oxide groups or mixtures thereof. The polar silicone emollient has a chain of dimethyl siloxane groups ranging in an average total length of 8 to 40 silicone atoms. The polar silicone emollient has a linker which is a hydrocarbon chain of 1 to 8 carbons in average length. The polar silicone emollient represents from about 1% to about 95%, more specifically from about 5% to about 70%, even more specifically from about 10% to about 40% by weight of the antiperspirant. The antiperspirant may be contained in a pressurized or non-pressurized container.

Clear, stable, dry-and-non-sticky antiperspirant having a select group of polar silicone emollients

This invention is directed to an elastomer composition produced by crosslinking a high molecular weight &equiv;Si&mdash;H containing polysiloxane and a diene, diyne or ene-yne compound in the presence of a diluent. The elastomer composition is suitable for use in forming personal care compositions.

Silicone elastomers compositions

This invention relates to an optically clear one-phase microemulsion which is transparent at a temperature range of from 0-70&deg; C. comprising (i) at least one non-aqueous polar solvent, (ii) at least one non-polar solvent immiscible with (i), and (iii) at least one oxyalkylene-containing polydiorganosiloxane. The microemulsions of this invention are useful as delivery vehicles for personal care active ingredients such as antiperspirant salts, sunscreens, alpha-hydroxy fatty acids, and Vitamin E.
