A bullet-type connector includes an axially compressible housing, a central conductor, and a dielectric mount. The axially compressible housing is compressible in an axial direction at least 2.5% of an overall length of the axially compressible housing. The central conductor defines a first female connecting end and a second female connecting end, the central conductor being positioned within the axially compressible housing. The dielectric mount mounts the central conductor within the axially compressible housing.

Bullet-type connectors, printed circuit board assemblies, and methods

Various configurations of compressible electrical assemblies are disclosed herein. Each variation of the compressible electrical assemblies includes at least one dielectric, an inner conductor and an outer conductor. Each inner and outer conductor may be configured as a compressible contact. One embodiment of a compressible electrical assembly includes an inner compressible contact, and outer compressible contact and a dielectric disposed at least partially between the inner compressible contact and the outer compressible contact. Each compressible contact also has a divaricated-cut section with a plurality of cuts defined by at least one cut angle measured between a pair of opposing inner surfaces.

Compressible electrical assemblies with divaricated-cut sections

Various configurations of connector assemblies are disclosed herein. Each variation of connector assembly includes at least one conductive outer housing, one or more dielectrics, and conductors, some of which may be configured as compressible electrical contacts manufactured from a tube. One embodiment of the compressible electrical contact includes a first contact end, a second contact end opposing the first contact end, and a plurality of cut sections defined by at least one cut angle measured between a pair of outwardly extending opposing inner surfaces, an innermost cut distance, and an outermost cut distance. Each of the plurality of divaricated-cut sections is based on at least one divaricating pattern.

Connector assemblies

A connector assembly includes housing for storing components of the connector assembly. The connector assembly further includes a cable including a cable center conductor, wherein the cable center conductor is configured as a signal conductor. The connector assembly also includes a first dielectric and an alignment dielectric. Each of the first dielectric and the alignment dielectric includes a path to guide the cable center conductor through an angle to a printed circuit board as the cable is axially inserted into the housing.

A coaxial cable connector assembly comprising a rear body comprising an outer body member and an inner body member, wherein the rear body is positionable in a disengaged position and an engaged position, and a coupler rotatably engaged with and positioned forward of the rear body, wherein the coupler defines an inner channel extending through the coupler between a front portion of the coupler and a rear portion of the coupler positioned opposite the front portion, a thread at the front portion of the coupler, a nominal portion defining a nominal inner span along the inner channel, and an outer conductor engagement portion that tapers inwardly from the nominal portion that extends forwardly along the inner channel to the front portion of the coupler, wherein the outer conductor engagement portion is structurally configured to contact an outer conductor of the coaxial cable.

Coaxial cable connector assemblies with outer conductor engagement features and methods for using the same

A coaxial cable connector assembly including a rear body, a coupler rotatably engaged with the rear body, where the coupler defines an inner channel extending through the coupler between a front portion of the coupler and a rear portion of the coupler, and a nominal portion defining a nominal inner span along the inner channel, and a retainer engaged with the coupler and the rear body, where the retainer couples the coupler to the rear body, where at least one of the retainer and the coupler defines an engagement passage having a non-uniform span, where at least a portion of the engagement passage extends inwardly from the nominal portion of the coupler and is structurally configured to contact an outer conductor of the coaxial cable forming an electrical pathway between the thread of the coupler and the outer conductor of the coaxial cable.

A method for coupling a coaxial cable to a coaxial cable connector assembly includes inserting a coaxial cable into a cable channel of a rear body of a coaxial cable connector assembly, where the coaxial cable connector assembly includes an adhesive reservoir positioned at least partially within the cable channel of the rear body, the adhesive reservoir comprising an adhesive and an adhesive reservoir seal material that at least partially encapsulates the adhesive, inserting at least a portion of the coaxial cable into the adhesive reservoir, and exposing the adhesive to electromagnetic energy thereby curing the adhesive, by at least one of directing electromagnetic energy from an energy source on the adhesive, and removing an outer jacket from an outer wall of the rear body.

Coaxial cable connector assemblies with curable adhesives and methods for using the same

A coaxial cable connector assembly includes a coupler defining an inner channel extending through the coupler and an outer conductor engagement feature extending inwardly from the inner channel, a rear body, positioned rearward of the coupler, defining a cable channel extending through the rear body, and structurally configured to receive the coaxial cable, and an adhesive reservoir positioned at least partially within the cable channel of the rear body, the adhesive reservoir including an adhesive and an adhesive reservoir breakable material that encapsulates the adhesive, where the adhesive reservoir breakable material is structurally configured to fracture upon the application of force exceeding a predetermined threshold, thereby releasing the adhesive from the adhesive reservoir to adhesively couple the coaxial cable to the rear body.

Coaxial cable connector assemblies with contained adhesives and methods for using the same

A coaxial cable connector for coupling a coaxial cable to an equipment port, the coaxial cable including a center conductor surrounded by a dielectric material, the dielectric material being surrounded by an outer conductor, the coaxial cable connector including: a post including a first end adapted to be inserted into a prepared end of the coaxial cable between the dielectric material and the outer conductor, wherein the post includes a second end including an enlarged shoulder, wherein the enlarged shoulder has a radial face that faces away from the first end of the post, wherein the radial face is substantially flat; a body member adjacent to the post; a coupler including an internally-threaded region for engaging the equipment port; and a grounding member contacting the post and the coupler, wherein the grounding member provides an electrically-conductive grounding path through the post and the coupler while allowing the coupler to rotate, wherein the grounding member includes at least one resilient portion.

A coaxial connector having an axially moveable shell in opposition to a separate and distinct body component wherein the moveable shell contains a gripping member capable of having the front portion displaced radially inwardly by the body so that the gripping member is positioned within the connector body and between the connector body and the coaxial cable and secures the cable to the connector and environmentally seals the junction while at the same time the shell contains a structure to move a rear portion of the gripping member radially outwardly upon compression. In some embodiments disclosed herein the shell contains a structure to prevent a rear portion of the gripping member from moving radially inwardly upon compression. Other connector shell embodiments may be made from a one-piece stamping instead of a machined component and thereby deliver a manufacturing cost savings.

Coaxial cable connector

Connectors and methods for attaching connectors to one or more cables and/or conduits are disclosed. In one example, a coaxial cable connector for connecting a coaxial cable comprising an inner conductor, an insulator layer surrounding the inner conductor, an outer conductor layer surrounding the insulator layer and an outer jacket is provided. The coaxial cable connector includes a front body comprising an opening for receiving at least a portion of a coaxial cable. The front body includes a plurality of rearward facing projections. A back nut sub-assembly includes a back nut and a retainer coupled to the back nut. The back nut is adapted to couple to the front body and the retainer is adapted to receive a least a portion of the coaxial cable. The retainer includes a plurality of forward facing protrusions adapted to engage the plurality of rearward facing protrusions when the back nut is coupled to the front body.

A coaxial cable connector for coupling an end of a coaxial cable to a terminal is disclosed. The connector has a post assembled with a coupler. The post is adapted to receive an end of the coaxial cable and comprises a front end, an enlarged shoulder at the front end, and a plurality of contacting portions. The contacting portions are of monolithic construction with the post, collectively circumscribe the enlarged shoulder at the front end of the post, and extend in a generally perpendicular orientation with respect to a longitudinal axis of the connector. The coupler is rotatably attached to the post and comprises an internally projecting lip, having a forward facing surface, adapted to couple the connector to the terminal. The contacting portions are configured to contact the forward facing surface of the lip of the coupler.

A coaxial connector includes a body, a post, a coupling nut, and a sealing member. The sealing member is axially compressed between a rear end facing surface of the coupling nut and a front end facing surface of the hollow body in order to facilitate improved grounding and RF shielding characteristics.

A coaxial cable connector having an inner conductor, a dielectric surrounding the inner conductor, an outer conductor surrounding the dielectric, and a jacket surrounding the outer conductor and used for coupling an end of a coaxial cable to an equipment connection port. The coaxial cable includes a coupler, a body, a post, and a biasing ring. The coupler is adapted to couple the coaxial cable connector to the equipment connection port. At least one of the coupler, the post, and the body has an integral, monolithic contacting portion to establish electrical continuity between at least two of the coupler, the body and the post. The biasing ring biases the contacting portion such that the electrical continuity is maintained regardless of the tightness of the coupling of the connector to the terminal.

A coaxial cable connector for coupling an end of a coaxial cable to a terminal is disclosed. The connector has a coupler adapted to couple the connector to a terminal, a body assembled with the coupler and a post assembled with the coupler and the body. The post is adapted to receive an end of a coaxial cable. The post has an integral contacting portion that is monolithic with at least a portion of the post. When assembled the coupler and post provide at least one circuitous path resulting in RF shielding such that RF signals external to the coaxial cable connector are attenuated, such that the integrity of an electrical signal transmitted through coaxial cable connector is maintained regardless of the tightness of the coupling of the connector to the terminal.
