Described herein are heterocyclic azide-containing monomer units, copolymers comprising such heterocyclic azide-containing monomer units, substrate-bound copolymers, and oligonucleotide-bound copolymers, methods for making such copolymers and reacting them with a substrate and/or oligonucleotide, and methods of using such copolymers for immobilization of oligonucleotides to a substrate, for example for use in DNA sequencing or other diagnostic applications.

Heterocyclic azide units and their use in polymer coatings

The invention provides a blood substitute product comprising haemoglobin and a self-assembled microparticle having an acid having two or more acid groups and an organic base in a solvent. The particle is of micron scale. The microparticle may be obtained by contacting a bis-acid and organic base in a hydrophilic solvent, wherein the acid is insoluble or sparingly soluble in the hydrophilic solvent and the organic base is soluble in a hydrophilic solvent.

Microparticles

The invention provides a personal care product or a home care product having self-assembled microparticles having an acid having two or more acid groups and an organic base in a solvent. The microparticles may form into a macrostructure and provide a support for carrying components of a personal care or home care composition. The particle is of micron scale. The microparticle may be obtained by contacting a bis-acid and organic base in a hydrophilic solvent, wherein the acid is insoluble or sparingly soluble in the hydrophilic solvent and the organic base is soluble in a hydrophilic solvent.

Microparticle composition and use thereof

The invention provides a non-particulate cross-linked poly-&#x3b5;-lysine polymer. The poly-&#x3b5;-lysine and cross linker are linked by amide bonds and may the cross linker has at least two functional groups capable of reacting with an alpha carbon amine of poly-&#x3b5;-lysine. The polymer is suitably insoluble in water and other solvents and is provided in macro form for example a sheet, article or fiber. The macro form polymer is useful in a wide range of applications including wound treatment, as a medical diagnostic comprising a particulate support and a functional material bound or retained by the support and solid phase synthesis of peptides, oligonucleotides, oligosaccharides, immobilisation of species, cell culturing and in chromatographic separation.

Provided herein is a three dimensional porous structure formed around an array of particles, where the particles define pores in the structure. The structure retreats away from the surface of the particles during formation, such that the particles optionally remain within the pores in the structure.
