A method is provided for loading and delivering a self-expanding stent. The stent is compressed from its expanded diameter to a smaller delivery diameter. While compressed, the stent is pushed from the proximal end through the proximal end opening of a restraining sheath. The restraining sheath retains the stent in the delivery diameter. In order to deliver the stent, the proximal end of the stent is pushed and the restraining sheath is withdrawn proximally from the stent. As a result, the stent is released from the distal end opening of the restraining sheath.

Method of loading and delivering a self-expanding stent

A delivery device for deploying an expandable prosthesis and method of use thereof are described. The delivery device includes an outer sheath that is capable of retracting in a proximal direction and resheathing over the prosthesis in a distal direction. The device includes a drive pulley that can engage gears to retract or resheath the outer catheter in relation to the prosthesis. In some embodiments, the delivery device may include a reinforced outer sheath disposed over an inner elongate member, the reinforced outer sheath comprising a proximal section reinforced with a braid, a distal section reinforced with a coil and an overlapping section extending between the proximal section and the distal section. Additionally or alternatively, the delivery device may include a stabilizing element for releasably holding the stent to the inner catheter.

Delivery device

A medical device for collecting cells includes an inflatable balloon and a perforated sleeve surrounding the balloon. The sleeve includes a plurality of openings therein for collecting cells when inserted into a body cavity. The balloon and sleeve can be housed in a sheath in a compressed delivery condition for being delivered to a target site for cell collection. The balloon and sleeve can then be inflated to expand into contact with the target site. The openings in the sleeve create a mildly abrasive surface for enhancing cell collection while limiting patient trauma. The balloon and sleeve can be reciprocated back and forth to collect cells from the surface of the body cavity. The balloon and sleeve having the collected cells can then be deflated and retracted from the body cavity.

Cytology balloon

A delivery device for deploying an expandable prosthesis and method of use thereof are described. The delivery device comprises an outer catheter that is capable of retracting in a proximal direction and resheathing over the prosthesis in a distal direction. The device comprises a drive pulley that can engage a particular gear set to retract the outer catheter and expose the prosthesis. The drive pulley can also engage another gear set to resheath the outer catheter and recapture the prosthesis between the inner and the outer catheter. A directional switch enables the device to operate between the two modes.

A medical device for collecting cells includes a rotatable drive wire having a proximal portion, a distal portion, an offset portion of the distal portion, and a head member attached to the offset portion. The drive wire is coupled to an axially translatable rack member via a rotation mechanism that converts axial translation of the rack member into rotation of the drive wire. The offset portion of the drive will rotate eccentrically relative to the longitudinal axis of the drive wire to increase the diameter of the rotation of the head portion. The head portion can contact an inner surface of the body cavity to collect cells, and the eccentric rotation of the head member can limit trauma experienced by the patient relative to traditional scraping of a cell collection brush.

Rotating cell collection device

A medical device for collecting cells includes a perforated tube and a brush disposed therein for collecting cells from tissue adjacent the tube. The tube includes a perforated portion and tissue can be drawn into the perforations in response to a vacuum applied to the tube. The brush can be inserted into the tube with the head portion of the brush aligned with the perforated portion to collect cells form the tissue that has been drawn into the perforations by the vacuum. The brush can be removed from the tube and another brush can be inserted to increase cell collection amounts.

A delivery device for proximally releasing an expandable prosthesis and method of use thereof are described. The delivery device comprises an introducer sheath that is capable of distally advancing relative to the endoprosthesis to thereby expose the endoprosthesis from a proximal end thereof. The device is also capable of resheathing over the prosthesis in a proximal direction. The device comprises a drive pulley that can engage a particular gear set to axially move the introducer sheath and proximally release the prosthesis. The drive pulley can also engage another gear set to resheath the introducer sheath and recapture the prosthesis between the inner catheter and the introducer sheath. A directional switch enables the device to operate between the two modes.

Proximal release delivery system

An apparatus and method comprising at least one intragastric member made of a digestive-resistant or substantially indigestible material that is introduced into a bag located in the gastric lumen of a mammal for the treatment of obesity. One or more intragastric members are loaded into a delivery tube in a partially compacted first configuration and delivered to an overtube. The overtube includes a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen configured to receive the intragastric members in the first configuration for delivery to the bag located in the gastric lumen wherein the intragastric member is expanded to a second configuration. The apparatus further comprises a constraining element engaged with the bag to secure the intragastric member upon delivery into the gastric lumen.

A medical device for heat treatment of patient tissue includes an electrically conductive wire guide. The wire guide has a distal end and a proximal portion. A connector is disposed on the proximal portion of the wire guide for providing electrical power to the wire guide, thereby enabling the distal end of the wire guide to heat the patient tissue.

Echogenic wire knife

A charging connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board and includes a dielectric housing. A triple-function terminal is mounted on the housing and includes a charger portion exposed on the exterior of the housing, a fixing portion for securing the connector to the circuit board, and a reflector portion having a reflective surface visible from exteriorly of the housing for detection by a fabricating device. Another terminal is a dual-function terminal and includes a charger portion as well as an enlarged fixing portion. A pair of additional metal reflector members also are mounted on the housing to provide triangular coordinates with the reflector portion of the triple-function terminal.

Electrical connector with multi-function terminals

An electrical connector assembly includes a first connector having a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of terminals. The first connector has a conventional DC jack socket with a central contact pin adapted for receiving a conventional DC jack plug. A second connector mates with the first connector and includes a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of terminals for electrical connection to the terminals of the first connector. The second connector has a locating peg insertable into the DC jack socket of the first connector. The locating peg is generally hollow to accommodate the central contact pin of the DC jack socket.
