Methods, systems, and computer-readable media containing instructions for controlling a miner. One system includes a cutter head, a left tram system, a right tram system, and a cutter head controller. The cutter head includes a plurality of bits and a plurality of sections defining at least one recess. The left and right tram systems are configured to move the miner, and the cutter head controller is configured to vary a current speed of at least one of the left tram system and the right tram system to cause the cutter head to alternate back and forth to bring the plurality of bits into engagement with material accumulating within the least one recess.

Method of controlling a miner to cause wobble in the cutting heads

A compact wavelength monitoring and control assembly for a narrow band (i.e., laser) source is provided, comprising two narrow bandpass, wavelength selective transmission filter elements of Fabry-Perot structure through which two separate collimated beams from a laser source are directed onto two photodetectors. The spacing of the multiple transmission maxima for one etalon is chosen to match that of the desired set of frequencies to be used for locking purposes. The spacing of the transmission maxima for the second etalon is used, in combination with a dielectric filter, to generate a wavelength fiducial to denote an absolute frequency. The spacing of the second etalon is chosen to be much wider than the frequency grid etalon. A control circuit processes the simultaneously acquired signals from the two detectors as the laser wavelength is varied. The device functions as an optical wavelength discriminator in which the detectors convert optical energy to current (or voltage) for a feedback loop for controlling the laser source. Any one of a large number of discrete, predetermined wavelengths may be chosen for locking using the same device. The system is compact and may be packaged within the same temperature controlled laser assembly for maximum performance and minimum circuit board space requirements.

When a need by a remote for an extraordinary amount of bandwidth is detected, a reserved spillover frequency from a set of frequencies is reserved for that remote. This bandwidth is reallocated when the need for extraordinary bandwidth for that remote has ended.

A preferred embodiment of a novel paddle for use in racquet sports, and particularly table tennis, is disclosed. The paddle features a handle which is designed to comfortably conform to the player's grip while both enhancing total backhand play and allowing for ease of rotation to forehand play at any time on either side of the body. Thus, a paddle which eliminates ever being caught out of position.

Glider

A hand launched glider of folded sheet material, having a basic fuselage with integral tail surfaces and a curved slot to hold a wing which is keyed to the fuselage to maintain alignment, the wing being adjustable fore and aft in the slot. The central fuselage and nose portion are reinforced by additional folded elements, one of the elements comprising a slidable locking member which secures the wing at any selected position in the slot. A spring clip on the nose secures the multiple elements in place, including the wing locking member, and also serves as ballast for balancing the glider. The wing and tail have adjustable control surfaces which, together with the wing position adjustment, provide a wide range of flight control.
