A vehicle door glass blocker assembly including a blocking bracket securable to a vehicle door frame panel, and a blocking edge integrally formed with the blocking bracket, being substantially normal to a vertical edge of a vehicle window, and being capable of at least partially shattering the vehicle window when the window impacts the blocking edge during a vehicle crash event. A blocking protrusion may be coupled to the blocking bracket, be longitudinally disposable between the vehicle window and a vehicle door latch mechanism, and be capable of at least partially preventing transverse displacement of the vehicle window. A support bracket may be secured to the blocking bracket, and a glass run extrusion may be secured to the support bracket, be adapted to accept a vertical edge of the vehicle window, and be capable of reducing vibrations in the vehicle window.

A one-piece retainer is preferably an injection molded that receives and retains a weatherseal therein. The retainer assembly includes first and second portions that are bonded together to form the one-piece retainer. Fasteners further aid in securing the portions together and also securing the assembly to the associated vehicle. An outer show surface portion overlies a door body side of the vehicle. The show surface covers a cavity that serves as a water management channel around the perimeter of the window opening.

An insertable wear strip assembly is dimensioned for insertion into an associated cavity of an associated weatherseal. The wear strip assembly includes a generally U-shaped base portion having a base wall, and first and second sidewalls extending from the base wall for receiving the window glass. First and second compliant thin wall regions extend outwardly from the first and second sidewalls, respectively, for low friction, sliding engagement with the window glass. Optionally, the insertable wear strip is secured to the weatherseal via fasteners.
