Methods and systems for displaying a virtual object capture, via an image capturing device, images of a physical scene that includes a first marker and a second marker, wherein the first marker and the second marker are physical markers; associate a first virtual object with the first marker and a second virtual object with the second marker; track the position of the first marker and the position of the second marker in the captured images of the physical scene using a tracking device; detect an interaction between the first marker and the second marker based on the tracked position of the first marker and the tracked position of the second marker, wherein the interaction is detected when the first marker and the second marker are within a predetermined proximity of each other; and associate, in response to detecting that the interaction, a third virtual object with the first marker.

Methods and systems for displaying virtual objects

Systems and methods for displaying an object determine a display time of a first object, wherein the display time of the first object is determined based on one or more attributes of objects in a collection of objects, generate a display that includes at least part of the first object in a first portion of the display for the display time of the first object, wherein the display is configured for rendering on a display device, and remove the first object from the first portion of the display after the display time of the first object has elapsed.

Image data for frames of a moving image is transmitted from a first computer to a second computer. A region of interest for all of the frames in the moving image is identified by calculations using the image data for at least some of the frames. Coordinates for the region of interest are transmitted. Image data for a first frame and second frame for the region of interest is encoded and transmitted. A region surrounding the region of interest is identified. Coordinates for the region surrounding the region of interest are transmitted. Image data for the first frame for the region surrounding the region of interest is encoded and transmitted, wherein transmission of the encoded image data for the first frame for the region surrounding the region of interest is effected after transmission of encoded image data for both of the first and second frames for the region of interest.

Region of interest-based video transfer

Virtually extending the functionality of a network device to a server is provided. A virtual device which virtually represents functionality of the network device is created. An association is stored between the network device and a user or a group for the network device. A determination is made as to whether the network device and the user or the group for the network device correspond to a local network or to a disparate network, based on the stored association. A network address for the virtual device is assigned based on the determination. Functionality of the network device is accessed via the virtual device, using the assigned network address for the virtual device.

The authentication of a device with a server over a network includes authenticating, by the device, the server so as to establish a secure connection with the server. The device communicates identification information of the device to the server, wherein the identification information uniquely identifies the device to the server. The server determines the credibility of the device using the identification information communicated by the device. In a case where the server determines that the device is credible, the server creates a first authentication token for the device, stores the first authentication token, and transfers the first authentication token to the device using the secure connection, and the device stores the first authentication token. The server authenticates the device using the first authentication token.

Authenticating a device with a server over a network

Image data of an image is transmitted from a first computer to a second computer over a network. A region of interest in the image is identified by a first computer by calculations using image data. Coordinates for the region of interest are transmitted from the first computer to the second computer. Image data for the region of interest is encoded. Encoded image data for the region of interest is transmitted from the first computer to the second computer for decoding and display at a position corresponding to the transmitted coordinates. A region surrounding the region of interest is identified by the first computer. Coordinates for the region surrounding the region of interest are transmitted. Image data for the region surrounding the region of interest is encoded. Encoded image data for the region surrounding the region of interest is transmitted for display at a position corresponding to the transmitted coordinates.

A method and system for registering a card that is used to enable configurations of an application and/or a device. The method and system includes initializing into an administrative card setup mode, providing information for at least one card to be registered, storing the information for the at least one card to be registered, and exiting the administrative card setup mode.

The present invention is directed to the use of a messaging component for sharing a common network communication channel by a plurality of threads of execution. The messaging component receiving a message and forwarding the message to one or more of the threads using information in a payload portion of the message, which is compared with supplied registration information. In addition, according to the present invention, messaging and job components may be used by each of a plurality of execution threads to negotiate a manner of transferring data between two network computers, wherein the job component proposes a manner of transfer, which is communicated using the messaging component to a receiving a computer. The proposed manner of transfer may be accepted or rejected by the receiving computer. An alternative manner of transfer may be proposed, where another manner of transfer is found to be unacceptable.

Flexible secure network data transfer and messaging

An interface card for a device with image output capabilities. The interface card includes a connector for connecting to the device and a controller. The controller sends data for output of an image of a quick-start guide from the interface card to the device through the connector. The controller sends the data once without error and does not send the data to the device again unless the interface card is reset with respect to whether the data has been sent. In the preferred embodiment, the interface card further includes a non-volatile memory, and the controller stores an indication that the data has been sent without error in the non-volatile memory in a case that the data has been sent without error. The controller uses the indication to determine if the data has been sent once without error, and the interface card is reset with respect to whether the data has been sent by resetting the indication. Examples of interface cards according to the invention include, but are not limited to, CD-ROM and DVD cards for computer systems with displays and/or printers, display interface cards, and network interface cards for printers.

Automated output of user guide

Obtaining exclusive control of a printing device by deferring printing of print data in a print queue. To obtain control, the recipient performs a process which may include authentication of the recipient. Control may be obtained either before the recipient is authenticated or after a successful authentication process. After the recipient has obtained control, print data in the print queue is temporarily deferred from being printed. The recipient may then select a print job to print, including selecting a print job from among the print jobs deferred in the print queue, or selecting a file to print over a network, including the Internet or an intranet. Further, printing device resources utilized in printing data during the period of exclusive control may be tracked and correlated to the recipient who has control.

In a first case where it is determined that remote exclusive control can be obtained, authenticating a user requesting to obtain remote exclusive control of the device's capabilities, providing the user remote exclusive control of the device's capabilities after the user has been authenticated, and temporarily deferring requests by users other than the user who has obtained remote exclusive control to perform operations utilizing the device's capabilities during a period in which the user maintains remote exclusive control of the device's capabilities. In a second case where it is determined that remote exclusive control cannot be obtained, denying the user's request to obtain remote exclusive control, adding the user to a reservation queue of user's requesting to obtain exclusive control of the device, and when the user ascends in the reservation queue to be the next user to obtain exclusive control, the user is notified that he can now obtain remote exclusive control of the device.

A method for providing print-by-reference functionality includes providing a web page from a printer's embedded web server to a web browser, receiving a URL entered into the provided web page, retrieving a printable document corresponding to the URL, and printing the retrieved document.
