An apparatus for securing a trim cover to a foam pad includes a base and a platform coupled thereto that defines a working surface for supporting the foam pad thereon. A plurality of actuators project from the working surface. Each actuator is capable of movement away from and toward the working surface and includes a pair of retaining fingers capable of movement between an open and closed position. In use, the retaining fingers grasp a first connecting member on the trim cover and move the first connecting member toward the working surface as the actuators are moved toward the working surface so as to engage the first connecting member with a second connecting member in the foam pad thereby securing the trim cover to the foam pad.

The present invention relates to a weight-drop machine for calibrating and verifying the calibration of an occupant detection system in a vehicle. The machine comprises a lift frame that is adapted to support and lift a seat pallet toward a keeper plate to cause the pallet to engage the keeper plate so that the pallet is prevented from movement. Another weight-drop machine a weight supported for movement relative to a frame, which, in turn, is supported for movement in a direction having both a horizontal component and a vertical component of movement in a single motion. Yet another weight-drop machine comprises one or more sensors that are adapted to sense the position of a vehicle seat. Still another weight-drop machine comprises a sensor for measuring displacement of the drop weight. A towel bar lift may be provided for lifting a towel bar for operating a manual seat lock mechanism.

An installation device for installing a flexible sensor apparatus on a seating surface of a seat cushion includes an installation fixture having a saddle. The saddle includes a first face having a seating portion recess formed therein which generally conforms to the shape of the seating surface of the seat cushion. The first face further has at least one locating recess formed in the seating portion recess. The locating recess generally conforms to the shape of a portion of the flexible sensor apparatus. The saddle further has ports extending from the locating recess to a vacuum source, wherein a vacuum from the vacuum source retains the flexible sensor apparatus in the locating recess.

An assembly for use in bonding an trim cover to a foam pad along a pair of conveyor line in a process of a plurality of stations. A plurality of tool carriers are transported along each of the conveyor lines to each station. The tool carrier supports at least one mold assembly for bonding an air impervious adhesive film between the cover and the foam pad. A collar assembly pivotally supports a press platen above the mold assembly and provides pivotal movement between an open position spaced at a predetermined angle above the mold assembly and a closed position compressing the foam pad against the trim cover and mold assembly. The tool carrier includes a pair of vacuum inlet connectors for engagement by a vacuum snorkel to provide vacuum pressure to the mold assembly and travel with the tool carrier along the conveyor line between consecutive process stations. The tool carrier also includes a pair of heat connectors and a second dirty vacuum connector which are engaged at several stations by heat snorkels and a vacuum snorkel, respectively, to provide heat to the mold assembly for melting the adhesive and then dirty vacuum pressure to cure the bond between the trim cover and foam pad. A striker assembly is positioned above the tool carrier at two different process stations for pivoting and locking the press platen between the open and closed positions.
