A flexible bag and attachment mechanism is provided that may be used in a variety of applications where it is desirable to attach a flexible bag to a device or machine. Some examples of such device may include an insect trap, a grinder, volumetric or weight based filler and liquid dispenser, food or perishable storage, etc. According to one embodiment, the bag portion of the device is disposable and the attachment device is reusable. In one variation a tapered neck is attached to the opening of the bag. The tapered neck connects within a tapered collar of the device by way of a press fitting. The neck is flexible so that it can be deformed to a shape that permits it to enter into the collar, and is resilient so that it can return to its original tapered ring configuration to engage the tapered inner circumference of the collar. The bag may be attached to a dispenser for dispensing material. The dispenser may be in part, a grinder or mixer. The dispenser may be a water or liquid dispenser for filling water bags for transport in a backpack. The bag may be used to contain attractants for an insect trap and/or may be used to contain captured insects.

Insert trap comprising a tapered bag attachment

A three-dimensional collapsible multi-component device and assembly. The device comprises a mountable housing for mounting under a shelf, or a wall or the like in an unobtrusive or discreet manner. The housing has a first flat configuration for transportation and storage and a second three-dimensional configuration for device deployment. The device housing further includes an insert having an adhesive surface and a dispenser comprising pheromone, kairomone or other attractant, lure or bait, or, alternatively, a repellant or a combination of any of these. The adhesive is effective for trapping multiple orders of insects. A plurality of attractants, etc., is simultaneously used for attracting multiple orders of insects. The insert is selectable, removable and replaceable.

Multi-component device for capturing or repelling insects or insect pests

A three-dimensional collapsible insect trap and assembly for capturing and monitoring insects comprising a collapsible carton container coated externally and internally. The carton container, collapsed for shipping and storing, is easily assembled into a three-dimensional trap. The trap comprises essentially a carton container suited to be assembled into a three-dimensional trap, a locking clasp and, optionally, an attachment means for attaching the trap to a place of insect infestation monitoring.

Insect trap and assembly for capturing and monitoring insects

A mobile plant harvester for harvesting plants having foliage or vines such as cucumbers, includes an inclined main conveyor having an upper run and an inclined gripping conveyor supported by a vertically adjustable sub-frame and having an arcuate lower and upper end portions and parallel upper and lower runs. The foliage gripping conveyor includes a plurality of foliage gripping bars which open when moving around the lower arcuate end portion to gently gather the foliage and crop and then close to grip the foliage and transport the foliage and crop upwardly for release onto the main conveyor with a minimum of crop loss. The harvester also includes means for cutting the foliage horizontally, and means for maintaining the foliage gripping conveyor and foliage cutters at the desired height when moving over rough ground are also disclosed.

Plant harvester

A thrashing system for a vegetable harvester including a plurality of tines on an oscillating shaker head which engage vines and shake the fruit such as cucumbers, from the vines. The fruit is collected on a cross conveyor and the vines are pulled through at least one pair of pinch rolls for discharge on the ground. A full width blower directs high pressure air across the cross conveyor to lift and spread the vines allowing disconnected fruit to fall therethrough onto the cross conveyor.

Thrashing system for vegetable harvesters

The invention is directed to a system for peeling an object having a generally soft interior portion surrounded by a generally hard external surface, where the system is suitable for use by consumers or in areas with consumers. According to one aspect of the invention, the apparatus of the invention includes a knife means for removing the hard external surface from the object, leaving substantially the soft interior portion. The apparatus also includes a housing enclosing the knife means to protect consumers or an operator of the apparatus from the knife means. The housing has two openings, one for receiving the object and one for discharging the soft interior portion after the object has been peeled. For some objects to be peeled, such as pineapples, the hard external surface of the object has two end portions and an intermediate body portion. According to another aspect of the invention, the apparatus of the invention includes a first knife means and means for grappling the object and rotating it towards the first knife means for severing the two end portions of the external surface. The apparatus also includes a second knife means and means for urging the object towards the second knife means to sever the intermediate body portion of the external surface.

An apparatus for wrapping objects in heat-sealable film which provides for continuous mechanical wrapping of objects and which is suitable for wrapping objects which have poorly-defined shape or which are non-uniform in size or shape is described. The apparatus of the invention comprises a frame; a conveyor assembly for advancing the film and the object and for bringing the film into a wrapping relationship with the object; a sealing assembly for bringing the sides of the film having the object contained therein into heat-sealable contact and for sealing the film to sealably enclose the object; an indexing carriage for advancing the sealing assembly at the same rate as the conveyor assembly; and means for sensing the object and activating the sealing assembly to seal the film.

Wrapping machine

An apparatus for separating objects of different shapes or sizes is described. A vibrating conveyor belt is equipped with upwardly projecting fingers spaced at intervals to entrap therein objects of a particular size or shape and convey them in the direction of the movement of the belt and to simultaneously support objects of another shape or size on the ends of the fingers and to convey them by vibration in a direction different from the movement of the belt, thereby separating the objects.

Vibrating separator

An apparatus for tying loosely-defined soft packages is described. A means for gathering or firming the loosely-defined package is fixed to a frame to which is also fixed a means for holding the gathered packages. A tying means, mounted on the frame, is actuated by a sensing means designed such that the tying means is actuated at the same relative position for each package tied.

Apparatus for tying cauliflower

Apparatus for harvesting vegetable heads is disclosed. A sensing means including a pair of parallel, laterally movable, head-engaging units, which are counter-rotated, is fixed to a frame. A cutting means is mounted on the frame and is responsive to the sensing means. The cutting means includes a horizontal knife blade rotatable 180.degree. for each head cut. The severed head is removed from the cutting area by a pair of counter-rotating lifter belts.
