The invention relates to a glass composition of silica-soda-lime type colored blue which comprises the coloring agents below in a content varying within the following limits, by weight: the glass exhibiting a redox factor of less than 0.35, a dominant wavelength &#x3bb;of between 485 and 489 nm, an excitation purity of less than 13% and a selectivity at least equal to 1.1 under a thickness of between 3 and 5 mm. It also relates to the glass sheet obtained from the abovementioned composition, said sheet being intended in particular to form an automobile window or for the construction industry.

Blue glass composition intended for the manufacture of windows

A glass composition of the soda-lime-silicate type is described which includes, by weight, the following coloring agents: 0.2-0.45% of FeO(total iron), 2-8 ppm of Se, 0-20 ppm of CoO, and 0-80 ppm of NiO. The coloring agents satisfy the relationship, 0.7&#x3c;(200&#xd7;NiO) +(5000&#xd7;Se)+(6&#xd7;Fe)/(875&#xd7;CoO)+(24&#xd7;Fe)&#x3c;1.6 in which the NiO, Se, Fe, CoO and Fecontents are expressed in ppm, Feand Feare the content of ferric iron expressed in the form of FeOand FeO, respectively. The composition has a redox from 0.28 to 0.5, an overall light transmission under illuminant A (T) greater than 65% and a selectivity (SE) of greater than 1.25, when measured for a thickness of 3.85 mm. A window formed from at least one glass sheet produced from the aforementioned composition is also described.

The invention concerns a grey glass composition of the soda-lime type having a global light transmission under an illuminant A (T ) more than 15% for a glass thickness equal to 4.85 mm, said composition comprising colouring agents as follows in the following weight percentage limits: Fe O : 0.25-0.65%, preferably 0.3-0.6% and more preferably still 0.3-0.4%; CoO: 150-250 ppm and preferably>185 ppm; NiO: 650-1000 ppm; Se<5 ppm.
