A method implemented by a computer for the real-time simulation of a force and/or of a moment applied to a wing in a fluid flow, wherein the body is previously modelled by at least two scalar and vector point sources of a velocity field, the method including at least one of the steps: assessing at least one element selected among a force and a moment, through a linear function dependent on the main velocity vector, V, of the flow; at least one flow rate, referred to as the scalar mass flow rate, As; and at least one flow rate, referred to as the vector mass flow rate, AR, associated with the sources, on at least one point corresponding to one of the sources.

Method for simulating forces applied to a wing in a fluid flow

A device measures at least a first physical quantity of fluid flow in a three-dimensional space having at least one predetermined interface, between at least two media. The device comprises a computer prescribing first and second conditions at the different boundaries concerning the first physical quantity, associated respectively with a first source and a second source, different to one another, the first and second sources being point sources of mass flow of fluid and/or of force. The computer calculates, by distributed point source calculation, a first value of the first physical quantity from the first condition and from the first source and a second value of the first physical quantity from the second condition and from the second source, at at least one second point, different from the first test point, then combines the values to calculate for the first physical quantity respectively from the different boundary conditions and sources.

The invention relates to a device and method for estimating defects potentially present in an object comprising an outer surface, wherein the method comprises the steps of: a) illuminating the outer surface of the object with an inductive wave field at a predetermined frequency; b) measuring an induced wave field ({right arrow over (H)}) at the outer surface of the object; c) developing from the properties of the object's material a coupling matrix T associated with a depth Z of the object from the outer surface; d) solving the matrix system to determine a vector ({right arrow over (J)}) at depth Z; e) extracting a sub-vector ({right arrow over (J)}) from the vector ({right arrow over (J)}) corresponding to a potential defect on the object at depth Z; and f) quantitatively estimating the potential defect from the sub-vector ({right arrow over (J)}) at depth Z, wherein the method is performed using a computer or processor.

Method for estimating defects in an object and device for implementing same

A method for modeling the interactions between objects. The surface the objects define an interface between media. A set of elementary characteristic functions are chosen that correspond to the field of application. The physical properties the media are defined. Each object is modelled as a mesh and elementary point sources are associated with either side of each mesh element. The type of boundary conditions are determined for each interface. The global matrix for the interactions between the various objects is constructed, depending on the type of boundary conditions, the properties of the media and the configuration of the system. The global matrix is inverted. The inverted matrix is multiplied by a column matrix of the excitation boundary conditions. A column matrix is obtained containing the elementary point sources. At every point, the physical quantities representative of the interactions are calculated and an analytical model of the interactions is obtained.

The invention relates to the modelling of the interactions between an incident wave and an obstacle, in particular in the area of nondestructive testing. According to the invention, the surface of the obstacle is meshed and at least one source (S) is allocated to each surface element (dS). Boundary conditions are then calculated at each mesh cell of the obstacle and source values are deduced therefrom. On the basis of an interaction matrix and of these source values, a physical quantity representative of the interaction between the wave and the obstacle is estimated at any point of space.

A quantitative magneto-optical imaging method is used to form an image of a target material. An active material is placed close to the target material and produces a Faraday rotation in a polarized light beam. The Faraday rotation of the active material is essentially proportional to the magnetization of the target material when this latter is subjected to an exciting magnetic field. Photodetector means detect the beam reflected after passing through the active material. The light from the reflected beam can then be analyzed for obtaining the amplitude and phase of an interfering magnetic field generated by a defect in the target material.

Magneto-optical imaging method and device

The invention makes it possible to detect and measure the movement of a moving member (50) through an amagnetic or low permeability metal wall. The installation requires ferromagnetic material targets placed at regular intervals over the moving member. The transducer is positioned facing the moving member by its detection face (16). It comprises two ferromagnetic cores (2, 8) surrounded both by an exciting coil (4) and a measuring coil (10), at whose terminals the measuring signal is taken. The latter is proportional to the variable reluctance of the magnetic circuit, which varies as a function of the position of the ferromagnetic targets (48). The transducer is completed by a balancing core (34). Application to the measurement of the displacement of control rods in the vessel of a pressurized water reactor.
