Pipe with an outer diameter of from 90 to 630 mm and a minimum wall thickness of higher than 3.6 mm, having (a) an extrapolated time-to-failure (ASTM F2023 and ASTM F2769-10, performed on 16 mm SDR 7.4 pipe) of at least 50 years (for classification code CL5), (b) a time to failure (ISO 1167, performed on 32 mm SDR 11 pipe) of at least 10000 hours (110&#xb0; C. under hoop stress of 2.6 MPa), and (c) a resistance to slow crack growth (ISO 13479 (80&#xb0; C., 9.2 bar, performed on 110 mm SDR 11 pipe)) of at least 5000 hrs. The pipe contains a copolymer of ethylene and an a-olefin, and has (a) a density (D) in the range 933-948 kg/m, (b) a melt index (MI) in the range 0.15-2.0 g/10 min, and (c) a melt elastic modulus G' (G&#x2033;=500 Pa) in the range 40 to 150 Pa.

Pipes

Copolymers comprising ethylene and alpha-olefins having (a) a density (D) in the range 930-960/g/m(b) a melt index (MI) in the range 0.1-3.5 g/10 min (c) a melt elastic modulus G' (G&#x2033;=500 Pa) in the range 40 to 150 Pa, and (d) a ratio of complex dynamic shear viscosities &#x3b7;*(0.1)/&#x3b7;(100) in the range 1.5 to 5.5. The copolymers are suitable for use as Polyethylenes of Raised Temperature Resistance (PE-RT) for use in hot water piping systems. The copolymers may be prepared by use of meltallocene catalyst systems. Pipes having a time to failure of &#x2267;500 hrs measured according to ISO 1167 at 110&#xb0; C. and 2.6 MPa prepared in a single reactor are also disclosed.

Copolymers

Composition containing a polyethylene powder having: (a) a specific density of 930 kg/mor less; (b) a melt index MIgreater than 0.5 g/10 min; (c) a ratio of HLMI/MIof less than 25, where HLMI is high load melt index measured under a load of 21.6 kg; (d) a bulk density of at least 350 kg/m; and (e) a d50 greater than 500 &#x3bc;m, and absorbed within said powder at least 1 wt % of a liquid additive. The polyethylene powder has a porosity of at least 0.04 cm/g for pores smaller than 2&#x3bc;m.

Polymer composition

Fibers, tapes, monofilaments including copolymers of ethylene and &#x3b1;-olefins which exhibit improved tensile properties expressed as a balance between tenacity and elongation at break. The copolymers may be prepared by use of metallocene catalyst systems in particular by use of monocyclopenadienyl catalyst systems. The fibers, tapes, monofilaments of the invention are particularly suitable for end-use applications including artificial grass, woven and nonwoven fabrics, cordages, ropes, netting and flexible intermediate bulk containers.

Fiber, tapes, monofilaments based on ethylene copolymers with alfa-olefins

A composition suitable for use in pressure pipes and pipe fittings is disclosed comprising polymer of ethylene and from 0.5 to 5 wt % of a C-Calpha-olefin which has a natural density of 935-956 kg/m, a melt index MIof 0.15-0.5 g/10 min, a dynamic complex viscosity at 100 rad/s and 190&#xb0; C. (&#x3b7;) of no more than 2500 Pa&#xb7;s, a relationship between &#x3b7;and dynamic complex viscosity measured in Pa&#xb7;s at 0.01 rad/s and 190&#xb0; C. (&#x3b7;) defined by the equation &#x3b7;&#x3e;115000+30. &#x3b7;, and an environmental stress crack resistance as measured by a notched pipe test performed according to ISO13479:1997 on 110 mm SDR 11 pipes at 80&#xb0; C. and a pressure of 9.2 bar, of greater than 1000 hours, or: wherein the C-Calpha-olefin is 1-hexene or 1-octene.

Ethylene polymer composition

Process for making a film or pipe by compounding an uncompounded polyolefin powder having a particle size distribution such that D95 is less than 355 &#x3bc;m and (D90&#x2212;D10)/D50 is less than 1.2, where D95, D90, D50 and D10 are defined such that 95 wt %, 90 wt %, 50 wt % or 10 wtl % of the polymer particles have a diameter of less than D95, D90, D50 and D10 respectively, to form pellets; and then forming the pellets into a film or pipe.

Polyolefin powder

Process for polymerization of ethylene using a catalyst system including (i) a solid catalyst of Ti, Mg and halogen, (ii) a first activator which is at least one trialkylaluminium compound of the formula AlR, where each R is independently a C2 to C20 alkyl radical, and (iii) a second activator which is at least one alkylaluminium chloride of the formula AlR'Cl, where each R&#x2032; is independently a C2 to C20 alkyl radical. The second activator is introduced directly into the polymerization reactor, without precontact with the solid catalyst, continuously or semi-continuously, and at a maximum rate of introduction at any time corresponding to less than 10 ppm by weight of chlorine relative to the rate of polyethylene production.

Process for polymerising ethylene

Uncompounded polyolefin powder which is multimodal and has a particle size distribution such that D95 is less than 355 &#x3bc;m, D5 is at least 60 &#x3bc;m, and (D90&#x2212;D10)/D50 is less than 1.2, where D95, D90, D50 and D10 are defined such that 95 wt %, 90 wt %, 50 wt % and 10 wt % of the polymer particles have a diameter of less than D95, D90, D50 and D10 respectively.

Chelate complexes of calcium, strontium and barium formed with ligands that are beta-ketiminate compounds having a scorpion tail; intermediate compounds useful in producing the aforementioned complexes; a method for producing such complexes, and the use of such complexes for depositing layers containing calcium, barium or strontium.
