An apparatus and an associated methodology is provided to select and run an image of an executable software, the method including the steps of: starting a self executable boot and load software stored in the apparatus configured to run an executable software image; reading a table stored internally in the apparatus by the self executable boot and load software, referencing an executable software images that are stored in the apparatus; selecting an uncorrupted executable software image from one of the executable software images that are referenced in the table; and starting the image chosen by said selecting.

Method for selecting an executable software image

A method of filtering a packet data stream as transmitted in a digital audiovisual transmission system characterized in that transport packet data is filtered at a first stage by a digital filter () according to the characteristics of the transport packet header, selected filtered data being then passed directly to a memory element () within the receiver/decoder. In a second aspect, the method comprises filtering a packet data stream characterized in that transport packet data is filtered at a first stage by a first digital filter () according to the characteristics of the transport packet header, selected filtered data from the payload corresponding to a continuous flux of data then being passed to a second digital filter () for a second stage of filtering.

Packet filtering

A decoder for a digital audiovisual transmission system, the decoder comprising a processor means for decompressing and displaying compressed still picture data and a memory () characterised in that the memory () comprises a storage memory () allocated to receive from the processor decompressed digital image data representing a plurality of still picture images () and at least one display memory () adapted to hold contemporaneously data representing multiple still picture images () readable by the processor means prior to display, data representing the plurality of images being copied from the storage memory () to the display memory () for subsequent display.
