A multiple welding method and a welding device with at least two electrodes which ensure a welding quality that is as consistent as possible and stable welding processes. A test parameter is applied to one of the at least two welding current circuits before the start or after the end of the multiple welding method and at least one electrical welding parameter is recorded in at least one other welding current circuit, with an electrically conductive connection between the at least two welding current circuits being detected if the recorded welding parameter is influenced by the test parameter and fulfills a predetermined test criterion. Alternatively, at least one electrical welding parameter is recorded in each welding current circuit during the multiple welding method, with an electrically conductive connection between the at least two welding current circuits being detected if the recorded welding parameters change simultaneously.

Method and welding device for carrying out a multiple welding method

In order to improve the estimation of the arc voltage for use in a welding process, a welding line is modeled using a welding line model in the form of a transfer system with an order greater than one for estimating the arc voltage, and the estimated value of the arc voltage is determined as the difference between the measurement voltage at the measurement point and the determined line voltage drop.

Method for determining an estimated value of an arc voltage

In a method in which a welding process is carried out on a workpiece with a welding torch and to a welding device for carrying out the method, a welding current source is supplied in order to provide a welding voltage, and an electrical voltage is applied, at least temporarily, during the welding process to an external element of the welding torch, in particular to an outer wall of a gas nozzle, and a possibly occurring electrical contact between the external element and a further element, in particular the workpiece or a contact tube, is detected by the electrical voltage applied. The welding current source is electrically connected via at least one first resistor to the external element of the welding torch and the external element of the welding torch is connected to the electrical potential of the workpiece via at least one second resistor.

Method and welding device with detection of electrical contacts during a welding process

A a multiple welding method having an improved starting process in which the control unit of the guide electrode starts welding-wire advancing of the guide electrode and sends a synchronization signal to the control unit of the trailing electrode when the guide electrode has moved a certain distance or for a certain time. The control unit of the trailing electrode starts welding-wire advancing of the trailing electrode in dependence on the received synchronization signal before the guide electrode touches the workpiece.

Multiple welding method

A method for providing a referenced distance signal which corresponds to the distance between a contact tip of a welding torch and a workpiece to be machined, includes adjusting an operating point on a predetermined welding characteristic, which is defined at least by a wire feed rate, a welding voltage and/or a welding current, and a CTWD distance between the contact tip and the workpiece; determining a target parameter value of at least one parameter dependent on the CTWD distance for the operating point; determining an actual parameter value of the at least one parameter by measuring at least one of the present wire feed rate, welding voltage and/or welding current; modifying the determined actual parameter value as a function of a calculated difference between the target parameter value and a predetermined reference value; and outputting the referenced distance signal corresponding to the modified actual parameter value to a position control system of a robot arm.

Method and device for providing a referenced distance signal for controlling the position of a welding torch

A welding device has a central unit and a welding torch unit, which can be connected to the central unit. The central unit includes at least one welding current source for providing electric current needed to operate the welding torch unit and includes a control unit. The welding torch unit includes at least a first welding torch with a first welding wire and a second welding torch with a second welding wire. The control unit is configured to carry out a starting process in such a way that firstly a first arc ignition takes place at one of the two welding torches and after a waiting time since the first arc ignition has passed, a second arc ignition takes place at the other of the two welding torches, which until then was not ignited.
