The invention relates to a vehicle steering wheel for a vehicle having a horn, said steering wheel having a longitudinal axis and comprising a gas bag module, a steering wheel skeleton, a gas bag module, at least one detent connection for connecting the gas bag module with the steering wheel skeleton. The gas bag module is displaceably mounted to the skeleton to allow a displacement of the gas bag module in the direction of the longitudinal axis to actuate the horn. The detent connection has first and second electrical contact surfaces, which come into contact with each other by displacement of the gas bag module to actuate the horn.

Vehicle steering wheel

The invention relates to a vehicle steering wheel, including comprising a skeleton, a gas bag module which is axially movably coupled with the skeleton in such a way that by pressing against the gas bag module a contact is closed for actuating a horn, and a resilient return element for the gas bag module. The gas bag module includes a gas bag with an opening edge defining an inflation opening as well as includes a flange clamping the opening edge on an inside of the gas bag for fastening the gas bag. Bearing pins are provided which directly engage the flange and which are attached to one of the skeleton and a part stationarily mounted directly to the skeleton.

The invention relates to a vehicle steering wheel comprising a steering wheel body and a gas bag module provided with two or more guide pins. The gas bag module, for actuation of a horn, is displaceably mounted in an axial direction by means of the guide pins. The steering wheel further comprises at least one multifunctional switch unit for the remote actuation of specific vehicle functions. The at least one multifunctional switch unit is mounted on the guide pins of the gas bag module so as to be movable in the axial direction independently of the gas bag module.

A pre-assembled gas bag module comprises a generally cup-shaped carrier, a gas generator mounted on the carrier, an inflatable gas bag and a retaining plate for retaining the gas bag on the carrier. An edge of the gas bag is clamped between the carrier and the retaining plate. The carrier, retaining plate and gas bag have mutually aligned assembly openings for accommodation of the gas generator. The gas generator has a housing of a flangeless configuration and provided with mechanical interlock members for cooperation with corresponding interlock members provided on the carrier, to provide a bayonet-type or a snap mounting type connection of the gas generator to the carrier.

Pre-assembled gas bag module

The invention relates to a structural unit for a gas bag module, in particular for a steering wheel gas bag module. The unit comprises a gas bag, a gas generator carrier and a covering cap which consists of plastic material. The covering cap and the gas generator carrier form an accommodation space for the gas bag. The gas generator carrier consists of a punched out and deformed sheet metal section having an edge side incorporated in a form-fitting manner into the covering cap. The sheet metal section is provided with tongues which are able to be bent inwards and towards each other so as to limit the accommodation space and close it at a rear side. Further, the invention relates to a gas bag module comprising the structural unit according to the invention.
