A pulse compressor includes a plurality of optical components. The plurality of optical components includes a diffraction grating. A first optical component of the optical components is fastened to base plate by at least first and second intermediate elements that are laser-welded to one another. The first intermediate element is fastened to the base plate and the second intermediate element is fastened to the optical component. A joining surface of the first and second intermediate elements is formed as a bearing recess and another joining surface is curved. At least the laser-welded joining surfaces of the first optical component, the base plate, and the first and second intermediate elements are formed from materials for which a difference in their coefficients of thermal expansion is less than 10e-6/K.

Monolithic pulse compressor and associated adjustment method

The present disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for the butt welding of two, e.g., planar, workpieces composed of glass, e.g., quartz glass, by a pulsed laser beam, e.g., an ultrashort pulse ('USP') laser beam, which is directed into the workpiece material parallel to the joining surface of the two workpieces and which is focused into the workpiece material in the region of the joining surface to locally melt the two workpieces in the region of their joining surface, wherein the laser focus of the laser beam focused into the workpiece material is moved in or counter to the beam direction of the laser beam to produce in the region of the joining surface a weld seam extending along the beam direction.

Ultrashort pulse laser butt welding

An apparatus for spectral broadening of laser pulses includes a main body, a plurality of mirror elements fastened to the main body, each having a mirror surface formed thereon and configured to reflect the laser pulses the plurality of mirror elements being fastened to a main body, and at least one nonlinear optical medium for the passage of the laser pulses for the generation of a nonlinear phase (Φ) by self-phase modulation. The at least one nonlinear optical medium may be a sheet-like and disk-shaped solid-state optical medium and/or a gaseous optical medium.

Apparatus for the spectral broadening of laser pulses and optical system

Methods, devices, and systems for welding optical fibers and perforated elements by pulsed laser beam are provided. In one aspect, a method includes focusing a pulsed laser beam onto a region of a joining surface formed by an outer circumference of an optical fiber and an inner circumference of a hole of a perforated element, a beam direction of the pulsed laser beam running in an axial direction of the joining surface, and moving a laser focus of the pulsed laser beam in the region axially in or counter to the beam direction to produce at least one weld seam in the region. The optical fiber and the perforated element are locally melted in the region by the pulsed laser beam focused into a material of the optical fiber and a material of the perforated element and are thereby welded to one another.

Laser welding of optical fibers in perforated elements and associated optical elements

Disclosed are optical arrangements including: a disk-shaped laser-active medium, a deflecting device, having a plurality of mirror elements on which mirror faces for deflecting a laser beam are formed, and having a base body on which the mirror elements are fastened, the mirror faces of the mirror elements being oriented in such a way that the laser beam is deflected by a respective mirror face via the disk-shaped laser-active medium to another mirror face. The mirror elements are formed in one piece or are monolithically joined, and have a connecting section that is formed rotationally symmetrically with respect to a center axis and is rigidly connected by a material-fit connection or a direct connection to the base body.
