Disclosed in a compact and inexpensive coaxial connector and jack assembly. The spring member which makes the ground connection to the coaxial cable is designed with sufficient rigidity so that the standard sleeve member surrounding the spring is eliminated.

Coaxial connector

Disclosed is a high frequency connector employing a plurality of columns of female contacts for receiving signal carriers and ground/power blades providing shielding between the columns of female contacts. The signal and ground/power blades are coupled to a circuit pack by means of a plurality of flexible circuit sheets. The connector provides full shielding of the signal carriers to the backplane.

Apparatus (16) for cleaning or lubricating inaccessible pin arrays of an electrical interconnection backplane (10). A connector block (18) with contacts removed is mounted on the end of a dummy circuit board (17). The connector block (18) is slotted across the contact chambers (20), the slot (21) having an absorbent element (24) fitted therein. The element (24), which may be of a polyurethane foam, is saturated with a cleaning or lubricating agent. To clean or lubricate the pins (11), the dummy board (17) is fitted between the guide frames until the backplane pins (11) pierce the absorbent element (24), the latter being 'selfhealing' when the appartus is withdrawn.

Electrical terminal pin conditioning apparatus

Electrical interconnection apparatus for coaxial cable and the like comprising a shielding sleeve removably slipped about, and covering access ports in, a tubular conductor featuring a snap-on retaining clip. An inwardly extending pin on the inner surface of the clip is inserted in aligned apertures in the sleeve and conductor to secure the sleeve in place. The clip is readily pried off to permit moving aside the sleeve for access through the ports to solder joints, for example.
