A scalable lossless audio coding/decoding apparatus and method are provided. The scalable lossless audio coding apparatus includes a lossy coding unit which lossy codes an input audio signal and generates a lossy bitstream, a lossy signal regenerating unit which decodes the lossy bitstream, compares a decoded signal with the input audio signal, and regenerates a lossy signal that is lost when lossy coding is implemented, a lossless coding unit which lossless codes the lossy signal and generates the result of lossless coding as a lossless bitstream, and a multiplexing unit which multiplexes the lossy bitstream with the lossless bitstream and generates one output bitstream. The lossy-coded lossy bitstream is mixed with the lossless-coded lossless bitstream, thereby one output bitstream is generated and transmitted, and the lossy audio signal in which only the lossy bitstream is restored from the output bitstream or the lossless audio signal in which the lossy bitstream and the lossless bitstream are restored and mixed with each other can be selectively generated.

Scalable lossless audio coding/decoding apparatus and method

A multi-channel audio reproduction apparatus and method for loudspeaker reproduction using virtual sound images whose positions can be adjusted is provided. The multi-channel audio reproduction apparatus includes a virtual sound image forming unit for compensating for the occurrence of cross-talk in at least one input audio signal according to the arrangement of loudspeakers, obtaining transfer functions occurring when sound from a position in a three dimensional space is transmitted to both ears of a listener, and forming a plurality of first virtual sound images in a three dimensional space using the transfer functions. A controller generates adjusting factors for adjusting the position of at least one second virtual sound image. An output position adjustor controls the at least one audio signal, with respect to which the plurality of first virtual sound images are formed by the virtual sound image forming unit, with the adjusting factors generated by the controller and adjusts positions of the at least one second virtual sound image. An adder sums up left output related signals of the at least one audio signal with respect to which the position of the at least one second virtual sound image is adjusted, and sums up right output related signals of the at least one audio signal with respect to which the position of the at least one second virtual sound image is adjusted, to generate left and right audio signals for forming the at least one second virtual sound image.

Multi-channel audio reproduction apparatus and method for loudspeaker sound reproduction using position adjustable virtual sound images

A system and method of network adaptive real-time multimedia streaming, in which a receiving bit rate of a packet that is received from a client is monitored, and the monitoring result is fed back to a streaming server, and a transfer bit rate of a packet that is transmitted by the streaming server are provided. The streaming system includes a streaming path on which packetized data are streamed, a streaming server for transmitting the packetized data at a first bit rate through the streaming path in response to a control signal, and a client for receiving the packetized data at a second bit rate according to the state of the streaming path, comparing the first bit rate with the second bit rate and generating the control signal corresponding to the comparison result. The first bit rate is controlled in response to the control signal. The size of packets and an interval between the packets are controlled by the first bit rate. The state of the network is sensed, and thus the transfer bit rate can be automatically controlled according to the state of the network.

System and method of network adaptive real-time multimedia streaming

A 3D sound reproducing apparatus for multiple listeners includes an inverse filter module for filtering an input sound signal such that each of the listeners can have the same virtual sound source, time multiplexing module for sequentially selecting one of the sound signals filtered by the inverse filter module at a predetermined interval, and a plurality of speakers for outputting the sound signal selected by the time multiplexing means as sound. Thus, the 3D sound reproducing apparatus for multiple listeners can concurrently present the same 3D sound effect to multiple listeners.
