An array substrate for an in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device includes a substrate, a gate line along a first direction on the substrate, a data line along a second direction and crossing the gate line to define a pixel region, a common line on the substrate, a thin film transistor connected to the gate and data lines, a pixel electrode in the pixel region and connected to the thin film transistor, the pixel electrode including horizontal parts along the first direction, and a common electrode in the pixel region and connected to the common line, the common electrode including horizontal portions along the first direction, wherein the pixel electrode and the common electrode are formed on a same layer.

Array substrate for in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device and method of fabricating the same

An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel. The liquid crystal panel includes first and second substrates and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a common electrode and a pixel electrode thereon. A top case is mounted over the second substrate and covers the second substrate. A driving unit is connected to the first substrate and outputs a common voltage. At least one common voltage transmission wire is configured to contact an inner surface of the top case and connected to the driving unit. At least one common voltage applying conductor is connected to the common voltage transmission wire and the common electrode.
