Provided are a touch sensor and a display device. The touch sensor includes a base layer; first electrode members arranged on the base layer in a first direction and spaced apart from one another in a second direction intersecting the first direction, each of the first electrode members including a first opening and a plurality of first touch electrodes electrically connected to one another in the first direction; second electrode members arranged on the base layer in the second direction and spaced apart from one another in the first direction, each of the second electrode members including a second opening and a plurality of second touch electrodes electrically connected to one another in the second direction intersecting the first direction; a first strain gauge including a portion located in the first opening and disposed in a first electrode row among electrode rows of the first electrode members; a second strain gauge including a portion located in the second opening and disposed in a first row among rows of the second touch electrodes; a first signal line connected to one end of the first strain gauge; a second signal line connected to another end of the first strain gauge and spaced apart from the first signal line; a third signal line connected to one end of the second strain gauge and the second signal line; and a fourth signal line connected to another end of the second strain gauge and spaced apart from the third signal line.

A touch sensor includes a base layer; a first electrode member that includes a plurality of first electrodes arranged on the base layer and electrically connected to each other along a first direction, each of the first electrodes including a first opening; a second electrode member that includes a plurality of second electrodes arranged on the base layer and electrically connected to each other along a second direction that intersects the first direction; a conductive member that includes a plurality of conductive patterns electrically connected to each other along the first direction; and a proximity detector that is electrically connected to the conductive member and configured to detect proximity of an object by receiving a proximity sensing signal from the conductive member. Each of the conductive patterns is located in the first opening of each of the first electrodes and spaced apart from each of the first electrodes, respectively.

A touch sensor includes first touch electrode members disposed on a base layer and located in a sensing area, each of the first touch electrode members including a plurality of first touch electrodes arranged along a first direction, each of the first touch electrodes including a first opening; second touch electrode members disposed on the base layer and located in a sensing area, each of the second touch electrode members including second touch electrodes arranged along a second direction, each of the second touch electrodes including a second opening; and a first pressure sensor disposed on the base layer and including a first strain gauge. The electrode portion is disposed on a same layer as the first electrode cells and separated from the first electrode. The sensing channel includes a first terminal and a second terminal. A display device includes a display region and a sensing region overlapping with each other, a plurality of pixels in the display region, a plurality of first electrodes arranged in a first direction in the sensing region, a plurality of second electrodes arranged in a second direction in the sensing region, and a driving circuit including a display driver for driving the pixels corresponding to image data, and a touch driver for sensing a touch input using a sensing signal input from each of the first electrodes, and configured to supply a noise compensation signal corresponding to the image data to the second electrodes during a period in which the pixels are driven.

A display device that senses externally applied pressure and a change in the resonant frequency of a piezoelectric element. The display device includes a piezoelectric sensor layer including a piezoelectric sensor; and a display panel disposed on the piezoelectric sensor layer. The piezoelectric sensor includes: a piezoelectric element having a first electrode, a second electrode facing the first electrode, and a piezoelectric material disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode; an alternating current (AC) voltage generator connected to the first electrode and applies a voltage having a resonance frequency to the piezoelectric element. A sensing circuit connected to the second electrode is configured to measure a change in impedance of the piezoelectric element.

A touch detecting unit comprises first sensor electrodes arranged in a first direction and electrically connected with one another; second sensor electrodes arranged in a second direction crossing the first direction, and electrically connected with one another, the second sensor electrodes electrically separated from the first sensor electrodes, and third sensor electrodes electrically separated from the first sensor electrodes and the second sensor electrodes. Amounts of change in first capacitances between the first sensor electrodes and the second sensor electrodes are detected in a first mode. Amounts of change in the first capacitances and amounts of change in a second capacitance between the first sensor electrodes and the third sensor electrodes are detected in a second mode.

Touch detecting unit capable of proximity sensing and display device including the same

A display device comprises: a display panel; a window; and a first pressure sensor. The display panel comprises: a planar portion; a first curved portion connected to one side of the planar portion; and a first side portion connected to one side of the first curved portion. The window is on the display panel. The first pressure sensor overlaps with the first side portion. Here, the first side portion is in a plane different from each of the planar portion and the first curved portion.

A touch sensor and a display device, in which the touch sensor includes: a base layer including a first region which is a flat portion, and a second region which is a curved portion extending from the first region; touch electrodes arranged on the base layer and each including an opening; a strain gauge disposed in the first region; and a temperature compensation pattern disposed in the second region.

A display device may include a display panel, a sensor unit, and a touch driver. The sensor unit is provided on the display panel and may output a sensing signal corresponding to a touch input. The sensor unit may include a first electrode and may include a conductive layer provided between the display panel and the first electrode and spaced from the first electrode. The touch driver may include a signal receiver. The signal receiver may include a first input terminal electrically coupled to the first electrode, may include a second input terminal electrically coupled to the conductive layer, may receive the sensing signal, and may output a signal corresponding to a voltage difference the first input terminal and the second input terminal.
