A media playback apparatus and a method including a system for preventing a playback delay are provided. The media playback apparatus may include a delay detecting module to detect a playback delay. The playback delay detection may determine a delay caused by a network, decoding and rendering through a single measurement. When the playback delay occurs, it may be possible to eliminate the playback delay by requesting that a server provide media data having a changed profile. Since the playback delay can be determined through a single measurement of a plurality of playback delay factors, it may be possible to simply and stably perform media playback in a manner suitable for a non-plug-in environment.

Media playback apparatus and method including delay prevention system

A media playback apparatus for playing media on a web browser may be provided. The media playback apparatus may include: a receiving unit that receives media data generated in a media service apparatus; a first media restoring unit that decodes the received media data by a first decoder embedded in the web browser; a second media restoring unit that decodes the received media data by a second decoder written in a script, which is parsed by the web browser; a user interface configured to receive a user command; and a decoding controller configured to control the first media restoring unit to decode the received media data in response to the user command corresponding to a playback command and control the second media restoring unit to decode the received media data in response to the user command corresponding to a seek command.

Apparatus and method for playing back and seeking media in web browser

An apparatus and a method for transmitting media data through live streaming or recorded streaming are provided. Live streaming refers to a case where media being captured in real time by a media service apparatus is played in a user's web browser, and recorded streaming refers to a case where media pre-recorded and stored in a server is played in a user's web browser. In the case of live streaming, since real-time is an important factor, there is provided a media playing method with no initial delay by using a decoder written in a script that can be parsed by a web browser. In the case of recorded streaming, there is provided a media playing method capable of using a decoder embedded in a web browser with no compatibility issue related to a container even when the media service apparatus has no container creation functionality.
