A small ultra wideband (UWB) antenna designed to have a unidirectional radiation pattern is disclosed. The UWB antenna includes a substrate; a power feeding part, provided on an upper surface of the substrate, for receiving a supply of an external electromagnetic energy; a dipole radiator excited by the electromagnetic energy fed through the power feeding part and radiating electromagnetic waves in one and the other directions of the substrate; and an active loop radiator excited by the electromagnetic energy fed through the power feeding part, respectively enhancing and canceling the electromagnetic fields produced in one or the other directions of the substrate by the dipole radiator.

The antenna includes: a radiator formed of a single plate, a grounding part formed of a single plate, a dielectric substrate including a surface on which the radiator is attached and another surface on which the grounding part is attached, and the band rejection filter connected to an end of the radiator. The band rejection filter includes a first capacitor connected to a signal line in parallel, a resonator including an end connected to the first capacitor in parallel and another end grounded, and a second capacitor including an end connected to the first capacitor in series and another end connected to the radiator in series. The resonator includes an inductor and a third capacitor connected to the inductor in series. As a result, the antenna may remove a frequency lower than an ultra wide band pass.

A transmission line conversion apparatus connecting a parallel transmission line to a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is provided. To this end, the CPW including a transmission line composed of a signal line and a ground line which is formed on one surface of a dielectric substrate, and a parallel transmission line connected to the CPW, at a predetermined angle with respect to a substrate constituting the CPW, and composed of a signal line and a ground line, are proposed. A Ultra WideBand (UWB) substrate type dipole antenna is provided which has a stable radiation pattern. The UWB substrate type dipole antenna includes a dielectric substrate, a first radiator formed on a side of the dielectric substrate, a signal line transmitting an energy from a coaxial cable to the first radiator, and a plurality of second radiators formed at a predetermined distance from the first radiator and the signal line, and respectively having therein a plurality of slits of a predetermined configuration. Because there is no leakage of electric current to an outer part of an external conductor of the coaxial cable, even when the connection of the connector and the coaxial cable to the antenna, distortion of the radiation pattern of the antenna is prevented. As a result, the same radiation pattern and the direction of maximum radiation may be obtained before and after connection with the connector and the coaxial cable.

A power supply portion is formed with the first conductive layer for supplying electric current to the first slot. A radiating element formed with the second conductive layer, which is excited by the electric waves radiated by the first slot, and radiates the electric waves.

A built-in antenna system for indoor wireless communications includes an AP antenna, all of the surfaces of which, except for an emitting surface, are installed behind wall surfaces in a wall of a building, and includes an access point (AP) (or an RF unit) connected to the AP antenna. Alternatively, the antenna system includes an antenna structure that is installed to pass through a selected wall of a building and an AP (or RF unit) connected to the antenna structure, the antenna structure having a sliding structure that can be adjusted according to the thickness of the wall. The shift of a frequency band caused by the wall may be avoided, and high-quality wireless communications is achieved regardless of the location of a wireless communication terminal in the building. Further, it is possible to increase the intensity of an electric field at the position of the terminal.
