Example devices and techniques for coding video data are described. An example device includes memory configured to store the video data and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and communicatively coupled to the memory. The one or more processors being configured to adjust an input bit depth of reconstructed samples of video data to a fixed bit depth, wherein the fixed bit depth is different than the input bit depth. The one or more processors are configured to classify the reconstructed samples at the fixed bit depth and determine a filter based on the classification. The one or more processors are configured to adaptive loop filter the reconstructed samples at the input bit depth based on the determined filter and process the adaptively loop filtered samples.

An example device for encoding high dynamic range (HDR) video data includes a memory configured to store video data; and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to: calculate a histogram for an image of the video data, the image being expressed in a linear light format; encode values for the histogram of the image expressed in the linear light format; and encode the image. Data for the histogram may be expressed in an array of variables having a size of 2×18 bits. The device may encode codewords representing values for bins of the histogram, where the codewords may be selected from a set of codewords for a PQ10 format for HDR images. The bins of the histogram may represent non-equal width ranges.

The device may generate filtered samples by performing, in a predicted samples domain, interpolation filtering and a second filtering from a group of one or more of: an adaptive filter, a domain transform filter, a scaler, or a local illumination compensation (LIC). The device may generate one or more of: residual data based on the filtered samples, or reconstructed samples based on the filtered samples; and code the video data based on one or more of the residual data or the reconstructed samples.

The current sample can be decoded based on the determined parameter for the current sample.

A video decoder may receive encoded video data encoded at a first bit-depth in an encoded video bitstream. The video decoder may determine one or more of a dequantization shift or a mid-transform shift based on information in the encoded video bitstream, and perform an inverse transform on the encoded video data at a second bit-depth using the dequantization shift and the mid-transform shift, wherein the second bit-depth is lower than the first bit-depth.

Systems and techniques are described herein for processing video data. For example, a process can include obtaining a video bitstream, the video bitstream including adaptive loop filter (ALF) data. The process can further include determining a value of an ALF chroma filter signal flag from the ALF data, the value of the ALF chroma filter signal flag indicating whether chroma ALF filter data is signaled in the video bitstream. The process can further include processing at least a portion of a slice of video data based on the value of the ALF chroma filter signal flag.

A method of decoding video data comprises determining, based on a color format of a picture of the video data, which context model from among a first context model and a second context model to use to determine a context increment for a syntax element that indicates a prefix of an x or y coordinate of a last significant transform coefficient of a color component of a block of the picture; and decoding a bin of the syntax element by applying Context Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) using a context determined based on the context increment for the syntax element.
