An aircraft propulsion system includes a rotor hub, rotor blades, a rotating frame, and a low-pressure compressor. The rotor hub is configured to rotate about a central axis. The rotor blades are arranged around the rotor hub. Each of the rotor blades is configured to rotate about a radial axis of the rotor hub. The rotating frame is positioned between the rotor hub and the plurality of rotor blades. The rotating frame is configured to allow air to pass without interference of the rotor blades. The low-pressure compressor is configured to receive the air passing through the rotating frame.

Aircraft may include electric motors. The aircraft electric motors may include a rotor assembly comprises an outer diameter portion, and inner diameter portion, and an end portion, arranged to define a stator cavity, and a rotor hub configured to connect to a shaft of the aircraft electric machine, a stator assembly arranged within the stator cavity, and at least one fan assembly arranged in the rotor assembly and configured to induce a cooling flow through the stator cavity.

A blended wing aircraft including a blended wing fuselage and at least one embedded gas turbine engine in the fuselage. The gas turbine engine includes an inlet duct formed with a generally elliptical shape that includes a first set of ellipse sections along an upper portion of the inlet duct and a second set of ellipse sections along a lower portion of the inlet duct. The inlet duct includes a vertical centerline. The first set of ellipse sections at a throat of the inlet duct is larger in area than an area of an upstream most end of the second set of ellipse sections. The area of the second set of ellipse sections increases toward a downstream end of the inlet duct. A fan section has an axis of rotation that is spaced from the vertical centerline and is disposed within an inlet duct orifice. The inlet duct is upstream of the fan section.

The blade is connected to and extends radially outward from the hub. The blade is formed with a second type of layer-by-layer additive manufacturing process that is different than the first layer-by-layer additive manufacturing process. The hub and the blade are integrally formed together as a single piece of material with a layer-by-layer additive manufacturing process. The blade includes a root of a first material, a platform connected to the root, an airfoil connected to and extending from the platform, and a tip connected on a distal end of the airfoil opposite from the root. The platform includes a material that is different from the first.
