A method of predicting hydraulic fracturing and associated risks of hydraulic fracturing operation is proposed. The methods use the mathematical simulation which allow to predict the geometry of a hydraulic fracture and location of fluids, propping agents (proppant), fibers and other materials therein. Reconsidering the fracturing design allows to remedy the possible risks (overflush, screen-out, bridging, gel contamination, temperature effects).

Method for predicting of hydraulic fracturing and associated risks

A method of stimulating a subterranean formation includes acquiring stimulation treatment input data, simulating a transport of at least one material transport present in a stimulation treatment design with a transport simulator model, determining and preparing the treatment design and performing the stimulating treatment according to the selected treatment design. As recited, simulating includes assuming that for each time stage of the stimulation treatment a velocity field for the at least one material transport and a stimulated flow domain geometry are known and calculating at each time stage the distribution of at least one physical quantity of the at least one material transport using a Lagrangian approach.

Method for reservoir stimulation analysis and design based on lagrangian approach

Methods may include using geometrical and mechanical properties to generate a model of one or more intervals of a wellbore; designing a fluid pumping schedule for a wellbore treatment fluid system; simulating flow of a fluid system containing solids using the model of the one or more intervals of the wellbore, wherein simulating comprises determining the flow rate distribution within the wellbore and modeling the settling and resuspension of the solids within the flow of the fluid system; and updating the fluid pumping schedule based on the output determined from the simulated flow of the fluid system. Methods may also include determining the critical velocity of the fluid system for various concentrations of one or more of solids and additives; and selecting the concentration of the one or more of solids and additives based on the critical velocities determined.

Method for treating fractured subterranean formations with controlled solids setting in wellbore

The provided method allows optimizing the fracturing design (frac design) while taking into account the two-dimensional modelling of the transport processes in the fracture. The generation of the fracturing design in a well comprises the steps of: obtaining data on hydraulic fracturing including the proppant pumping schedule and the fibre pumping schedule for various types of fibres; generating a degradation matrix for the various types of fibres; generating possible options of the hydraulic fracturing operation according to the fibre type and pumping schedule. Moreover, the method of hydraulic fracturing, which comprises generating a schedule of fracturing in a well, preparing a fracturing fluid containing carrier fluid, proppant, additives, and fibres, and pumping the fracturing fluid into the formation through the well following the selected (optimal) option of the fracturing operation, is provided.

Method of generating a fracturing design and method of hydraulic fracturing

A technique facilitates the study of complex fracture networks. A slot manifold is constructed with a system of branched thin channels, e.g. slots, which are joined at intersections. Fluid is flowed through the system of branched thin channels and through an intersection or intersections joining the channels in a manner which enables evaluation of fluid flow. A flow distribution device is used to allow or block flow of the fluid along specific branches of the system of branched thin channels to facilitate evaluation of fluid flow as a fluid moves through various angular changes and/or flow gap width changes from one channel to another.

Determining of microseismic event locations, generating low frequency pressure waves (tube waves) near the wellbore, recording of tube waves reflections from the fractures in real time and analyzing microseismic event locations and tube waves reflections from the fractures.
