A connector system for connecting first and second elongate conductors includes a wedge connector and a hydraulic power drive tool assembly. The wedge connector includes: a sleeve member defining a sleeve cavity and mountable on the first and second conductors; a wedge member; and a lubricant coating disposed on at least one of the sleeve member and the wedge member. The hydraulic power drive tool assembly is adapted to drive the wedge member into the sleeve cavity when the sleeve member is mounted on the first and second conductors to secure the wedge connector to each of the first and second conductors. According to some embodiments, the lubricant is a wax.

Apparatus for connecting conductors using a wedge connector

An electrical connector tool assembly is disclosed. The tool assembly includes a conductor tool and a connector tool connected to and cooperable with the conductor tool. The tool assembly can be used in connecting a first conductor to a second conductor with an electrical connector. The tool assembly is adjustably arranged and disposed to receive and removably retain a first conductive member of an electrical connector in the connector tool and is further arranged and disposed to both to hold the second conductor in place relative to a second conductive member of the electrical connector and to prevent rotation of the second conductive member with respect to the first conductive member.

An electrical connector assembly includes a bail, a first conductive member having a first hook portion extending from a first wedge portion, wherein the first hook portion adapted to engage a main conductor, and a second conductive member having a second hook portion extending from a second wedge portion. The second hook portion is adapted to engage the bail. The first wedge portion and the second wedge portion are adapted to nest with one another and be secured to one another to capture and electrically connect the main conductor and the bail.

An electrical connector assembly for power utility transmission conductors includes a first conductive member having a tap conductor engagement surface adapted for interfacing with a tap conductor and a main conductor engagement surface adapted for interfacing with a main conductor. The second conductive member is mechanically and electrically coupled to the first conductive member. Hand-held tools for gripping a railway contact rail to facilitate grounding thereof are provided. A first member includes a first jaw at an end thereof, a handle at an opposite end thereof, and a first intermediate portion extending between the first jaw and the handle. A second member is pivotally attached to the first member and includes a second jaw at an end thereof, a set of ratchet teeth at an opposite end thereof, and a second intermediate portion extending between the second jaw and the set of ratchet teeth. The first and second jaws are configured to pivot relative to each other so as to grip respective opposite side portions of a railway contact rail when the handle is moved downwardly such that the second intermediate portion is in electrical contact with a top portion of a railway contact rail. A pawl extends from the first intermediate portion and is configured to engage the set of ratchet teeth to hold the first and second jaws in contact with the respective opposite sides of a railway contact rail. A biasing member is operatively associated with the pawl and is configured to urge the pawl into engagement with the set of ratchet teeth. A release lever is operatively associated with the biasing member and/or the pawl and is configured to disengage the pawl from the set of ratchet teeth and allow movement of the handle so as to disengage the hand-held tool from a contact rail.
