Herein described are apparatuses, systems, and methods for measurement and reporting of channel state information within wireless network systems. In embodiments, an apparatus for a user equipment (UE) may include memory to store a rank indicator (RI), a precoding matrix index (PMI), and a channel quality indicator (CQI) of channel state information (CSI) for the UE. The apparatus may further include circuitry to concatenate the RI, the PMI, and the CQI to produce a concatenated CSI element, generate a CSI report that includes the concatenated CSI element, and cause the CSI report to be transmitted to a base station within a single slot. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Channel state information concatenation and antenna port measurement

Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for reporting channel state information (CSI) for multiple spatial layers. The apparatuses and methods can include at least: determining, by a user equipment (UE), a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for a set of precoding matrixes, wherein the PMI is determined based on a combination of digital Fourier transformation (DFT) spatial domain (SD) vectors, or based on DFT-based frequency domain (FD) compression; and transmitting, by the UE, the PMI to a next-generation NodeB (gNB).

Described is an apparatus of a User Equipment (UE) operable to communicate with a fifth generation Evolved Node-B (gNB) on a wireless network. The apparatus includes a first circuitry and a second circuitry. The first circuitry may be operable to determine a first parameter set and a second parameter set for establishing Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) resources. The second circuitry may be operable to process a first part of a PDSCH transmission from a first set of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) layers corresponding with a first Multimedia. Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) configuration based on the first parameter set. The second circuitry may also be operable to process a second part of the PDSCH transmission from a second set of MIMO layers corresponding with a second MBSFN configuration based on the second parameter set.

Physical downlink shared channel transmission for multi-point

An approach is described that includes receiving a CSI report, where the CSI report includes a channel quality indicator (CQI), a rank indicator (RI), and a precoding matrix indicator (PMI). The approach further includes constructing a precoding matrix based on a linear combination of a plurality of mutually orthogonal digital Fourier transformation (DFT) spatial beams, and determining a number of bits for the PMI of the precoding matrix. The approach also includes determining a space frequency matrix based, at least in part, on the number of bits for the PMI and the precoding matrix, and compressing the space frequency matrix. Finally, the approach includes determining a compressed PMI based, at least in part, on the space frequency matrix.

Techniques discussed herein can facilitate polar coding and decoding for NR (New Radio) systems. Various embodiments discussed herein can employ polar coding and/or decoding at UE(s) (User Equipment(s)) and/or gNB(s) (next generation Node B(s)). One example embodiment employable at a UE can comprise processing circuitry configured to determine one or more thresholds for code block segmentation, wherein the one or more thresholds for code block segmentation comprise one or more of a payload threshold (Kseg) or a code rate threshold (Rseg); determine to perform code block segmentation based on the one or more thresholds and at least one of a current payload (K) of an information block or a current code rate (R) for the information block; segment the information block into a plurality of segments; and encode each segment of the plurality of segments via a polar encoder with a code size (N).

Techniques for employing polar code in connection with NR (new radio)

Provided herein are method and apparatus for channel coding in the fifth Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) system. An embodiment provides an apparatus for a Next Generation NodeB (gNB), including circuitry, which is configured to: generate Downlink Control Information (DCI) payload for a NR-Physical Downlink Control Channel (NR-PDCCH); attach Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) to the DCI payload; mask the CRC with an Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) using a bitwise modulus 2 addition operation, wherein the number of bits for the RNTI is different from the number of bits for the CRC; and perform polar encoding for the DCI payload with the masked CRC.

Provided herein is design of early data transmission in wireless communication system. An apparatus for a user equipment (UE) includes a processor configured to: encode a physical random access channel (PRACH) sequence from a plurality of PRACH sequence for transmission via a PRACH to perform a random access procedure, wherein indication of support of early data transmission (EDT) that is transmitted during the random access procedure is based on at least one of the plurality of PRACH sequences, higher layer signaling, PRACH resources, PRACH formats, and a payload from the UE; and send the PRACH sequence to a radio frequency (RF) interface; and the RF interface to receive the PRACH sequence from the processor. Design of random access response (RAR) is also disclosed herein.

Early data transmission in wireless communication system

User equipment (UE) includes processing circuitry coupled to memory. To configure the UE for channel state information (CSI) reporting in a 5G network, the processing circuitry is to decode a radio resource control (RRC) configuration message, the RRC configuration message including first configuration information to configure determination of channel quality information (CQI), a rank indicator (RI), and a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for the CSI reporting. Second configuration information is decoded to configure codebook parameters for a high spatial resolution codebook associated with the PMI. A precoding matrix is determined based on the first configuration information, where a number of coefficients in at least one coefficient vector of the precoding matrix is configured using the second configuration information. CSI is encoded for transmission to a base station, the CSI including the RI and the PMI associated with the determined precoding matrix.
