An apparatus includes a processor circuit that includes a memory circuit, one or more processor cores, and a debug circuit. The debug circuit may be configured, in response to activation of a trace mode to record information indicative of instructions executing on the one or more processor cores, to write a trace data stream to the memory circuit that includes trace data collected on the instructions executing on the one or more processor cores. In response to a particular instruction within one of the processor cores specifying a write of a data value to an architecturally visible trace register, the debug circuit may be further configured to output the data value to the trace data stream as part of executing the particular instruction.

Hardware support for software event collection

A method and apparatus of a device for resource management by using a hierarchy of resource management techniques with dynamic resource policies is described. The device terminates several misbehaving application programs when available memory on the device is running low. Each of those misbehaving application programs consumes more memory space than a memory consumption limit assigned to the application program. If available memory on the device is still low after terminating those misbehaving application programs, the device further sends memory pressure notifications to all application programs. If available memory on the device is still running low after sending the memory pressure notifications, the device further terminates background, idle, and suspended application programs. The device further terminates foreground application programs when available memory on the device is still low after terminating the background, idle, and suspended application programs.

Resource management with dynamic resource policies

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for efficiently processing graphical data using an electronic device are provided. A characteristic of graphical data may be identified and compared to a threshold. Based on whether the identified characteristic meets the threshold, the graphical data may be rendered either entirely by a first type of graphical processing unit or by both the first type of graphical processing unit and by a second type of graphical processing unit.
