Described herein is a protection film comprising a polyolefin carrier material, a precoating of the polyolefin carrier material with a primer selected from polyurethane dispersions and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer of a radiation-crosslinked hotmelt adhesive. A process for producing such protection films is also described.

Plasticizer migration-resistant, UV-curable hotmelt adhesive for graphics films and labels made of plasticized PVC Described here is a UV-curable hotmelt adhesive largely resistant to plasticizer migration and comprising a UV-crosslinkable poly(meth)acrylate formed from methyl acrylate, C4-18 alkyl (meth)acrylate, monomer with acid groups, copolymerized photoinitiator and optionally further monomers. The hotmelt adhesive further comprises an aliphatic polyester polymer. The use of the hotmelt adhesive on graphics films and self-adhesive labels made of plasticized PVC is also described.

Described is an adhesive composition in the form of an aqueous polymer dispersion comprising tackifiers, a compound crosslinking via keto or aldehyde groups and a pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer which is formed by emulsion polymerization from soft (meth)acrylic ester monomers, acid monomers, monomers having keto or aldehyde groups, styrene and optionally further monomers, wherein the polymerization may be carried out in the presence of chain transfer agents. The pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer has certain gel contents. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition may be used to produce adhesive labels, adhesive tapes or adhesive films.

Adhesive composition having a gel content based on cross-linking via keto groups or aldehyde groups

A description is given of a one-component pressure-sensitive adhesive composition in the form of an aqueous polymer dispersion comprising at least one pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer which is formed by emulsion polymerization of soft (meth)acrylic ester monomers, methacrylic acid, and optionally further monomers, where the polymerization takes place in the presence of chain transfer agents or styrene. The pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer has a gel content which is based at least partly on a reversible crosslinking via metal salts. The one-component pressure-sensitive adhesive composition can be used for producing adhesive labels, adhesive tapes or adhesive foils.

Described are polyurethane-vinyl hybrid polymers, methods of making them and their use. The hybrid polymers are made from an anionic polyurethane and a polymerizable vinyl compound, wherein the polymerizable vinyl compound is selected from methylene malonates, methylene beta-ketoesters and methylene beta-diketones. The hybrid polymers can be used as binder in structural adhesives, as binder in pressure-sensitive adhesives, as binder in laminating adhesives, as binder in contact adhesives, as binder in ink, as binder in paints, as binder in coatings, as binder for fiber bonding, as binder for particle bonding or as binder in high cohesion adhesive tapes.

Polyurethane-vinyl hybrid polymers, methods of making them and their use

A description is given of the use of a polymer dispersion for producing sound deadener compositions, the polymer dispersion comprising at least one polymer obtainable by emulsion polymerization of radically polymerizable monomers, and the polymer having a weight-average molecular weight of more than 100 000, preferably of more than 100 000 to 350 000. A description is also given of corresponding sound deadener compositions which comprise the polymer dispersion, and of a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of vehicle components.

A description is given of a nonaqueous sound deadener composition comprising (a) a nonpulverulent, solvent-free polyacrylate binder having a K value in the range from 10 to 35, measured as a 1% strength solution in tetrahydrofuran; and (b) inorganic fillers. Also described is a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of components of vehicles and machines, using the sound deadener composition of the invention.

A description is given of a nonaqueous sound deadener composition comprising (a) a nonpulverulent polyacrylate binder having a K value in the range from 10 to 35, measured as a 1% strength solution in tetrahydrofuran; (b) inorganic fillers; and a radically polymerizable compound which has at least one radically polymerizable C&#x2014;C double bond and possesses a boiling point at atmospheric pressure of greater than 160&#xb0; C. Also described is a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of components of vehicles and machines, using the sound deadener composition of the invention.

Non-aqueous sound-deadening composition containing a non-pulverulent polyacrylate binder and a radically polymerizable compound

Radiation-curable mixture containing low-molecular, ethylenically unsaturated compounds having non-aromatic ring systems

A description is given of a pressure-sensitive adhesive dispersion comprising a water-dispersed polymer P1 formed by emulsion polymerization. The polymer P1 is formed from a monomer mixture comprising (a) at least 40% by weight of C4 to C20 alkyl (meth)acrylates which when polymerized as homopolymers have a glass transition temperature of &#x2212;30&#xb0; C. or less, (b) at least 0.05% by weight of (meth)acrylate monomers having a substituent of the formula where X is CH, O, NH or NR and R is a C1 to C4 alkyl group, (c) at least 0.1% by weight of acid monomers. The monomer mixture comprises alternatively at least 0.05% by weight of glycidyl (meth)acrylate and/or the pressure-sensitive adhesive dispersion comprises at least one further polymer P2 which contains glycidyl groups.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive dispersion comprising polymers with ureido groups or ureido-analogous groups and with glycidyl groups

A description is given of an aqueous polymer dispersion comprising a polymer which is obtainable by emulsion polymerization from a monomer mixture comprising as hydrophilic monomers ethoxylated (meth)acrylate monomer, acid monomer, and C1 to C20 hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate; and also at least one hydrophobic principal monomer, selected from C1 to C20 alkyl(meth)acrylates and vinylaromatics; and also, optionally, further monomers. This polymer is preparable by at least two-stage emulsion polymerization, where in a first polymerization stage the predominant fraction or the entire amount of the hydrophilic monomers is used, and in a later polymerization stage the predominant fraction or the entire amount of the hydrophobic monomers is used. The polymer dispersion is a suitable binder for aqueous particle dispersions, more particularly of sound deadener compositions, which comprise inorganic and optionally also organic particulate solids. Also described is a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of vehicle components.

Polymer dispersions and sound deadener compositions with emulsion polymer from two-stage preparation

A description is given of a pressure-sensitive adhesive dispersion comprising a water-dispersed polymer P1 formed by emulsion polymerization. The polymer P1 is formed from a monomer mixture comprising (a) at least 40% by weight of C4 to C20 alkyl (meth)acrylates which when polymerized as homopolymers have a glass transition temperature of &#x2212;30&#xb0; C. or less, (b) at least 0.05% by weight of (meth)acrylate monomers having a substituent of the formula where X is CH, O, NH or NR and R is a C1 to C4 alkyl group, (c) at least 0.1% by weight of acid monomers. Pressure-sensitive adhesive dispersion comprising polymers with ureido groups or with ureido-analogous groups and prepared by stage polymerization

A description is given of a sound deadener composition comprising a polymer dispersion comprising (a) at least one water-dispersed polymer obtainable by emulsion polymerization of free-radically polymerizable monomers and having a glass transition temperature in the range from &#x2212;60 to +60&#xb0; C.; (b) inorganic fillers; and (c) at least one fluorinated compound selected from perfluoroalkyl-substituted carboxylic acids and their salts, fluorocarbon resins, surface-active, fluoroaliphatic polymeric esters, and fluorine-containing, acrylate-based copolymers. A description is also given of a method for damping oscillations or vibrations of components of vehicles and machines, using the sound deadener composition of the invention.

Sound deadener composition with emulsion polymer and fluorinated compound

Described is a radiation-crosslinkable hotmelt adhesive comprising at least one radiation-crosslinkable poly(meth)acrylate formed to an extent of at least 60% by weight of C1 to C10 alkyl(meth)acrylates and at least one oligo(meth)acrylate which comprises nonacrylic C C double bonds and has a K value of less than or equal to 20. The hotmelt adhesive comprises a photoinitiator which may be present in the form of an additive not attached to the poly(meth)acrylate and/or not attached to the oligo(meth)acrylate, may be incorporated by copolymerization into the poly(meth)acrylate, and/or may be attached to the oligo(meth)acrylate. The hotmelt adhesive can be used for producing adhesive tapes.

Hotmelt adhesive comprising radiation-crosslinkable poly(meth)acrylate and oligo(meth)acrylate with nonacrylic C-C double bonds

A description is given of a process for preparing solutions of radiation-sensitive, free-radically polymerizable organic compounds, where a first starting compound, which has an acid halide group, and a second starting compound, which has an alcoholic hydroxyl group, are esterified with one another in a solvent or in a solvent mixture. The solvent comprises one or more ketones having a boiling point of below 150&#xb0; C. under atmospheric pressure (1 bar), or the solvent mixture is composed to an extent of at least 50% by weight of said ketones. One of the two starting compounds has at least one radiation-sensitive group and the other of the two starting compounds has at least one ethylenically unsaturated, free-radically polymerizable group. A description is also given of corresponding solutions of radiation-sensitive, free-radically polymerizable organic compounds and of their use for preparing radiation-crosslinkable, free-radically copolymerized copolymers, more particularly for hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesives or aqueous polymer dispersions.
