A process for producing a polymer nonwoven fabric includes providing a polymer blend of a thermoplastic elastomer and a further thermoplastic material. Fibers are produced from the polymer blend. A nonwoven semifinished product is formed from the fibers. In order to then produce the polymer nonwoven fabric, a volume increase is produced by mechanical stretching of the nonwoven semifinished product and subsequent relaxation. A process for using a semifinished nonwoven product and a process for using a polymer nonwoven are also provided.

In order to determine a rheological property of a fluid, the fluid is conveyed with a constant volume flow rate through a nozzle and the fluid strand thereby generated is deposited on a substrate. A relative movement takes place between the nozzle and the substrate at a forward feed velocity value. A contour of the liquid strand between the nozzle and the substrate is optically measured, and an extensional viscosity as a rheological property is deduced from knowledge of the volume flow rate, the forward feed velocity value and the contour of the fluid strand.

The material webs comprise a melt additive that when subjected to thermal energy may be encouraged to bloom across the entirety of the web or in localized areas of the web where localized thermal energy is applied.

A permeable nonwoven web having a plurality of fibers and/or filaments of a first polymer matrix forming an outer surface of each of the plurality of fibers and/or filaments is described herein. Energy application across the entirety of the web, or parts thereof, promotes the blooming of the melt additive from the first polymer matrix such that bloom areas are disposed on at least a portion of each of the outer surfaces of the fibers and/or filaments.
