A process oxygen analyzer includes a process probe extendible into a flow of process combustion exhaust, the process probe having an oxygen sensor measurement cell. Measurement circuitry is coupled to the oxygen sensor measurement cell and configured to obtain a non-corrected indication of oxygen concentration relative to a combustion process based on an electrical characteristic of the oxygen sensor measurement cell. A controller is operably coupled to the measurement circuitry and is configured to obtain an indication of process pressure and selectively provide a corrected oxygen concentration output based on non-corrected indication of oxygen concentration and the indication of process pressure. A method of providing a process oxygen concentration using a process oxygen analyzer coupled to an industrial combustion process is also disclosed.

A process variable transmitter for use in an industrial control or monitoring process is provided and includes a housing with a cavity formed therein. The housing includes an integrated terminal block which defines first and second compartments in the cavity. The transmitter further includes a process variable sensor configured to sense a process variable of the industrial process. Measurement circuitry is carried in the first compartment and configured to receive a process variable signal from the process variable sensor and provide an output. An electrical connection is carried on the integrated terminal block in the second compartment and is electrically coupled to the output of the measurement circuitry.

An apparatus for sensing a process variable, includes a housing and a process variable sensor that has an electrical characteristic that changes with a process variable. A first sealed portion is configured to be exposed to a process fluid. The process variable sensor is mounted relative to the first sealed portion. A second sealed portion couples the first sealed portion to the housing. The second sealed portion has at least one seal that fluidically isolates the first sealed portion from the housing.

An apparatus and a method monitor condition of a temperature measurement point in an industrial process system by sensing vibration frequency of a thermowell positioned in a process fluid flow passage and providing a diagnostic output based upon the vibration frequency sensed. The apparatus includes a temperature measurement point having a thermowell, a vibration sensor, a temperature sensor, and a transmitter. The vibration sensor is fixedly attached to the thermowell, and the temperature sensor is positioned inside a bore cavity of the thermowell. The transmitter is electrically connected to both the temperature sensor and the vibration sensor.

A process variable transmitter for use in an industrial control or monitoring process is provided and includes a housing with a cavity formed therein which extends between first and second housing openings. The transmitter further includes a process variable sensor configured to sense a process variable of the industrial process. An electronics carrier assembly is mounted in the cavity and is configured to define a first compartment and a second compartment in the cavity and provide a seal therebetween. Measurement circuitry is carried by the electronics carrier assembly in the first compartment and configured to receive a process variable signal and provide an output. An electrical connection is carried on the electronics carrier assembly in the second compartment and is electrically coupled to the output of the measurement circuitry.

A method for calibrating a transmitter with measurement circuitry electrically connected to first and second input terminals includes connecting a primary temperature sensor to the first input terminal and connecting a calibrated reference device to the second input terminal. The measurement circuitry is calibrated with respect to the first input terminal according to signals received from the second input terminal while measuring temperature according to signals received from the first input terminal.

Online calibration of a temperature measurement point

A temperature sensor includes a temperature probe, an adapter, a resilient device, and a visual indicator. The temperature probe includes a temperature sensing device disposed at a temperature probe tip. The adapter surrounds a portion of the temperature probe such that the temperature probe is movable within the adapter in a lengthwise direction. The adapter includes a physical reference. The resilient device is adapted to produce a force between the adapter and the temperature probe. The force being variable based on a position of the temperature probe within the adapter. The visual indicator is disposed on a surface of the temperature probe. Alignment of the visual indicator with the physical reference corresponds to a desired force produced by the resilient device.

A system for measuring temperature includes a thermowell, a primary temperature sensor, a reference sensor, and a transmitter. The thermowell has a measurement instrument connection and a side port. The primary temperature sensor extends into the thermowell through the measurement instrument connection, and the reference sensor extends into the thermowell through the side port. The transmitter is connected to each of the primary temperature sensor and the reference sensor. The transmitter has circuitry for measuring temperature based upon signals received from the primary temperature sensor and for concurrently calibrating based upon signals received from the reference sensor.

Field devices used to measure process parameters can also function as a data historian by storing process data and associated time stamps. In response to a request for stored process data, the field device uses a cipher and a secret method to generate an encrypted validation string that is provided along with unencrypted information including the process data and time stamps. A validation service that maintains a secure database of field devices and their associated ciphers and secret methods can validate the unencrypted information by using the validation string.

Method of providing secure tamper-proof acquired data from process instruments

A temperature sensor capable of operation in high vibration environment includes a sensor sheath mounted at the distal end of a mineral insulated cable. A resistance temperature detector (RTD) sensing element is connected to leads of the cable within the sheath. The sheath is filled at least partially with a ceramic thermal adhesive.

An electrical connector apparatus for use with a field device includes a housing having a first end and a second end, an electrical feedthrough subassembly, and a visual indicator viewable from outside the housing. The first end of the housing is configured to mechanically connect to the field device. The electrical feedthrough subassembly extends through at least a portion of the housing and includes a plurality of electrical conductors configured to provide a removable electrical connection at the second end of the housing and a flameproof barrier disposed between the first and second ends of the housing. The visual indicator has a plurality of illumination modes indicative of a power state of the electrical feedthrough subassembly.

A compact industrial process transmitter is provided having an electronics module that includes a top surface with a plurality of lead attachment points thereon. At least one of the lead attachment points disposed on the top surface of the compact temperature transmitter electronics module includes a upwardly extending external lead attachment clip. In some aspects, a plurality of upwardly extending lead attachment clips as well as lead attachment points that have a lead wire engaging surface that is substantially flush with or raised above the top surface of the compact temperature transmitter electronics module.
