A hydraulic steering assistance system for vehicles, including a power steering pump and a variable-ratio gear, particularly a booster drive for the power-steering pump wherein the power steering pump hydraulically powers both the hydraulic steering assistance system and the variable-ratio gear.

Steering boost system

In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a positive-displacement pump, in particular a vane cell pump, having a pump element, in particular a rotor, which is situated within a contour ring and rotatable between two side surfaces where a limited coating is located on at least one of the side surfaces.

Pump with side surface coating

A rotary vane pump for delivering a fluid, having a delivery device ( ) accommodated in a casing ( ), with the casing ( ) being closed on the one side by a casing cover ( ), and on the other side by a bearing flange ( ). A drive shaft ( ) extends through the bearing flange ( ), the delivery device ( ), and optionally the casing ( ), and is supported in a passageway formed in the bearing flange ( ) and optionally in the casing cover ( ). Also, between the delivery device ( ) and the inside wall of the bearing flange ( ), a side plate ( ) is arranged, which supports itself on the inside wall, and centers the delivery device ( ) in the casing ( ). The side plate ( ) is centered on the side facing the bearing flange ( ) by a centering collar which extends into the passageway for the drive shaft ( ).

Pump

A rotary vane pump for delivering a fluid, having a delivery device accommodated in a casing ( ), a casing cover ( ) arranged on one end face, and optionally with a bearing flange ( ) adjoining the casing ( ) on the side opposite to the casing cover ( ). A seal ( ) is arranged between the casing ( ) and the casing cover ( ) and optionally between the casing ( ) and the bearing flange ( ), and the seal ( ) is inserted into a groove ( ) formed in the casing cover ( ), and optionally in the bearing flange ( ), and/or in the respective end face ( ) of casing ( ). Also a leakage path ( ) for the fluid extends between a delivery side ( ) and suction side ( ). The leakage path ( ) extends on the inner side ( ) of the seal at least in sections parallel to the seal ( ).
