A workpiece change for use in a machine tool that comprises a tool spindle for clamping tools for machining workpieces, comprises two wheels arranged parallel to one another and rotatable about an axis of rotation into at least two prominent angular positions. Two swivel tables for clamping workpieces are arranged between the wheels and are each mounted on the wheels to swivel about a swivel axis which runs parallel to the axis of rotation. In each prominent angular position, one of the swivel tables is located in its working position in which clamped workpieces can be machined with the tools. Both wheels are supported at their rim.

In a machine tool having at least one tool spindle which is displaceable in relation to a device for holding workpieces in at least one of three spatial directions and in which the tools (W-W) for processing the workpieces can be chucked, there are provided a machine magazine () in which tools (W-W) provided for exchange in the tool spindle () are kept in store and a background magazine () in which tools (W-W) provided for exchange in the machine magazine () are kept in store. The present invention relates to a machine tool and a corresponding method for machining, in particular for turning and milling, a workpiece having a central bore, said machine tool including a tool holder for holding a tool, a work rest for seating the workpiece, a work mounting for holding the workpiece in place, and a drive mechanism for rotating the workpiece about a central rotation axis, wherein the work rest has an arbor for attaching the workpiece, such that a section of the arbor projects into the central bore on a first side of the workpiece, and wherein the work mounting has a counter-holder movable in the direction of the bore axis of the central bore for applying a contact pressure, acting in the direction of the bore axis, to the workpiece on a second side opposite the first side.

The present invention relates to a machine tool for machining of workpieces, having a workpiece support for mounting the workpiece, a tool holder, which can be moved at least along one axis, for holding a tool for machining the workpiece, and workpiece holding units for fixing the workpiece during the machining, the workpiece holding units being arranged outside the workpiece support surface of the workpiece support, which is covered by the workpiece in the mounted state, and each having a holding element for fixing the workpiece. In order that also workpieces of greater diameter can be machined, the machine tool otherwise being of the same dimensions, it is provided according to the invention that the holding elements can each be moved, substantially parallel to the workpiece support surface, in the direction of the workpiece, in particular in the direction of a central workpiece axis, which runs perpendicular to the workpiece support surface, for the purpose of centering and fixing the workpiece. The holding elements comprise a clamping surface that is arranged obliquely in relation to the workpiece support surface and that is, in the mounted state, pressed against the workpiece for fixing and centering the workpiece to be machined, thereby exerting a pressure both in the direction of the workpiece support surface and in the direction of the central workpiece axis.

A machine tool has a work space () in which a device () for accommodating workpieces () to be machined is arranged. The machine tool further has a work spindle () for machining the workpieces () and a slide () which carries the work spindle () and is traversable in a longitudinal direction relative to the device (), a respective cover (), variable in length in the longitudinal direction (x), for the work space () being provided on the slide () on each of its sides, said cover () being connected with its respective first end to the slide () and with its respective second end to a side wall () of the work space (). Each cover () variable in length has a respective rear wall () and a respective top (), whereby the top () is connected to the rear wall () in a detachable, push-in, manner. A further flexible cover () is arranged in front of the slide () to protect the work space () at the bottom. The flexible cover () is variable in a direction (y) orthogonal to the longitudinal direction (x) and is partly designed as a link apron ().

A machine tool comprising at least one machining unit having at least one work spindle for accommodating tools in order to machine workpieces in a working area is provided with a first and a second transport device, by which workpieces are transported between the working area and a loading/unloading station. A machine tool is provided with at least one tool spindle which is travelling in a work space () and on which a tool receptacle for clamping tools is provided. The machine tool also contains a magazine for tools which can be introduced into the tool receptacle in the tool spindle, the magazine having a transport chain which can be moved back and forth in a transport direction and on which carriers are arranged for receiving tools. The carriers extend from the transport chain essentially transversely to the transport direction. At least one carrier has at least two storage spaces for tools.

In the case of a machine tool which comprises at least one working spindle with a tool-holding fixture for tool holders carrying tools, and a tool changer with a gripper for the tool holders in order to transfer the tool holders between their magazine position, which is spaced apart from the tool-holding fixture, and their working position in the tool-holding fixture, a clamping system with a clamping apparatus by means of which a tool holder inserted into the tool-holding fixture is fixed is arranged in the working spindle, the clamping system additionally comprising a retaining apparatus for a tool holder situated in the tool-holding fixture. In the case of a method carried out on this machine tool, the clamping system carries out a retaining operation which temporally precedes the clamping operation in order to grasp the tool holder inserted into the tool-holding fixture before the clamping apparatus fixes the tool holder. Furthermore, an unblocking operation which temporally follows the release operation is carried out in order, after the release of the clamping apparatus, still to retain the tool holder in the tool-holding fixture until it is ejected.

A carrier for tool holders of a machine tool has at least one movable jaw which can be pivoted about a pivot axis that runs transversely with respect to a longitudinal axis of said tool holders. Said movable jaw can be pivoted between an expanded position and a closed position in which it grasps in a form-fitting manner a tool holder which is inserted into said carrier.

A machine tool has at least one working spindle, in which a tool receptacle for tool holders is provided. Furthermore, there is a tool-changing arm with a gripper, for a tool holder in order to transfer this tool holder between its magazine position, which is spaced apart from the tool receptacle, and its working position, in which the tool holder can be clamped into the tool receptacle. Orientation means are provided between the gripper and the tool holder supported by it and secure the tool holder in a nonrotatable manner on the gripper at least during its transfer between the magazine position and the working position and release it after it has been clamped into the tool receptacle, with the result that the tool holder can be rotated in relation to the gripper.

A machine tool has a spindle which has a tool receptacle for an interchangeable tool holder. The tool holder is chucked into the tool receptacle during operation of the machine tool. A first passage having an outlet opening is arranged in the interior of the spindle. The outlet opening opens out inside the tool receptacle. The tool holder has a coolant tube which engages in the outlet opening of the first passage. According to the invention, the first passage comprises a continuous inner tube, the first end of which is connected to a connection for a coolant source and the second end of which is designed for connection to the coolant tube.
